Check Out Amber Rhew’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Rhew.

Hi Amber, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been working behind the chair since 2013. I started in a commission based salon under an apprentice program for one year. Anyone that is just out of hair school I would highly recommend doing that. During this time I found out I was pregnant with my oldest son so I knew I had to learn as much as I could in the apprentice program to be able to be on my own and confident behind the chair. Social media was not a big thing in the industry at this point so the good ol old fashion handing out business cards and introducing yourself to people in person Is how I continued to build my clientele. Fast forward to 2016 I welcomed my youngest son who is now 8. I continued to work at a commission based salon and finally in 2024 I decided I was ready to take a leap of faith and go out on my own. I’ve had the biggest support system not only from my husband and family but my clients as well.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been great since I took that leap of faith. As far as struggles I would probably say just finding that balance between home and work.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love Blonding and dimensional color along with haircuts. Doing hair is an art and I love to make people feel and look beautiful

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Social media groups along with classes to keep up and further education. You’re always learning in this industry and that’s what I love most about the hair industry
