Hi Ashley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today
“It isn’t living, its a Lyfeestyle.” Your Favorite healthy hairstylist. How it all started!! I was a 8 year old, going through LIFE at such an early age. Hair was already something the women in the family did anyway. But, when I saw my mother and my grandmother at young ages ( early 30s and mid 50s) with NO hair… I was like “OHHHHH NO! That will NOT be me!”
I did the research, asked some questions and just stood on it. I just knew hair was something I want to do. Considering my mother and grandmother were going through serious hair troubles. I wanted to tap in so that I can help myself and other women and men that deal with thinning and lost of hair as well.
I just knew, it was something I wanted to do! I was doing hair in middle school. Especially step shows cause I was apart of the step team. And just friends that wanted me to do some flat twist and styles. It was OVER from there.
I went to beauty school while in highschool. At the time my high school offered schooling where it will set you up for your career path. South Granville High school of business and global communications. And I would go to the community college as apart of my classes 11th and 12th grade year. Graduated June. 2010 So, when I finished and graduated high school. I finished my cosmetology program at the Regency Beauty Institute. Graduated from there March. 2011 and been doing hair ever since!!
From, starting in a salon “Stylz unlimited” in Durham. Michelle was the true foundation of where I am now! Thank You!! Moving forward, 2013 I thought about stepping out on my own.

I did weddings, date nights, vacation, pregnancy, everyday hair and LOVED IT ALL! Fast forward as doing hair over the years I realized that Healthy Hair was my specialty. Especially when It came to natural hair. Not just BLACK hair but ALL!
Went from suite to suite in the Raleigh and Durham area. Met some of the dopest estheticians, photographers, cosmetologist & Clientele in Raleigh and surrounding areas was booming!!
I was looking to do my own personal event for the beauty community called “collaboration over Competition” it was a skate party to bring the beauty industry together. To promote it’s no need to compete! If we collaborate we all WIN! But NOBODY showed up except the DJ and I!
Fast forward March 2022 your girl gets into a life threatening car accident. Had to have a brain surgery.
I was hanging out with a best friend that was turning 30! I was hype, that was my Gorl!! Long story short: I may have TBI! But I’ll never forget my family told me I had fentanyl in my system. I was like people normally die from that! What is going on? Went through the healing process and still till this day I don’t know what happened or why.
I have such a close relationship with God. I had to sit down and talk with him. And he said “ Ashley, I had to slow you down my child!” I was out hanging with people that didn’t give two F’s but I just wanted them apart of my life! And now TODAY!! July 2026 yall girl is still here and carrying Glam Lyfee ON!! I came up with the acronym for GLAM it’s GODS LOVE AND MERCY!! If it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t be here today. So, if it wasn’t for God himself I wouldn’t be here today! So I am a true representation of my business!
GLAM LYFEE! Remember it isn’t living, it’s a Lyfeestyle! So that’s how I will continue to show up for my self and my business period!
Today I am looking to extend and become a cosmetology instructor to lead the next generation of cosmetologist. You don’t have to be self made. Being a true licensed cosmetologist is a career! Especially if you have the passion behind that’s just the icing on the cake. I love what I do! And if you do you will succeed too!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes and no. It was tough Trying to collaborate with other beauty professionals cause that’s how I was taught. But unfortunately everyone doesn’t like that. Make sure if you’re fresh out of beauty school make sure you go into a salon first!! Not a suite. Being in a suite is cool yes, but starting your foundation with learning it pushes you to be great! So,do that I promise you’ll thank me later!

I am a licensed cosmetologist of 15 years and I specialize in Natural Healthy Hair! And I am known for that! Healthy haircare specialist!
What I am most proud of is not giving up when life has thrown so much at me to do just that!
What sets me apart from others is my true authentic genuinety . And my true passion for hair! It not just surface level it’s a science and it becomes deeper than hair!

For those that’s just starting out, start your foundation with a team or community. Use your discernment, pray first and the rest will follow.
Basically Starting in a salon with others! It helps build relationships first, learn and grow together. Honestly I felt that this is truly for me so I stared the way I needed and will finish that way I’m suppped to too! Thank you God!
