Check Out Ashwini Golegaonkar’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashwini Golegaonkar

Hi Ashwini, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As a public relations manager, I’ve learned to ‘roll with the punches’ and adapt to life’s unexpected twists. My journey began in the Indian film industry, where I worked as a publicist, rubbing shoulders with celebrities and even earning movie credits. However, fate had other plans, and I found myself in the US, tying the knot with my husband in a beautiful Virginia wedding.

After obtaining my work visa, I embarked on a new career path, joining a PR agency as a B2B tech public relations manager. It’s been a fantastic fit, allowing me to leverage my skills to help innovative startups make their mark in the industry.

When I’m not crafting compelling narratives or pitching stories, you can find me indulging in a variety of hobbies. I’m an avid reader, devouring books on history, psychology, mystery – thrillers, and culture. I’m also a thrill-seeker, enjoying kayaking and trying new outdoor adventures. Foodie that I am, I relish cooking and savoring global cuisine, from spicy curries to rich pasta dishes. And, let’s be honest, who can resist a good binge-watching session or a shopping spree (or three, or four…)?!

In addition to these pursuits, I’m passionate about creating content that resonates with millennials, often incorporating humor and wit into my writing. I also have a dog (whom I’m completely obsessed with..) And, as if all this weren’t enough, I’m excited to announce that I’m launching my own business venture soon!

Life has been a wild ride, full of surprises and opportunities. I’m grateful for every experience and the chance to continually learn, grow, and evolve.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
While I’ve been fortunate to have had many wonderful experiences, my journey hasn’t been without its own challenges. As a public relations manager, I’ve faced my fair share of obstacles, and it would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge them.

One of the biggest struggles was adapting to a new country and culture. Moving to the US from India was a significant change, and I had to navigate everything from unfamiliar customs to building a new professional network from scratch. It took time to adjust, but I was determined to make it work.

Another challenge was finding a job in my field. As a publicist in the Indian Film Industry, my experience was specific to promoting movies, actors and running promotional campaigns . I had to learn about the US market, build a new network, and prove myself all over again. It took three months of job hunting, but I finally landed a role that aligned with my skills and interests.

Additionally, starting my own business has been a learning curve. I’ve had to develop new skills, like marketing and finance, and navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. It’s been a thrilling adventure, but not without its share of setbacks and doubts.

Lastly, balancing my personal and professional life has been a constant juggling act. With a demanding job, a content creation hobby, and a new business venture, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. I’ve had to prioritize self-care, set boundaries, and learn to say “no” when necessary.

Despite these struggles, I’ve grown and learned so much from each experience. I’ve developed resilience, adaptability, and a growth mindset, which have helped me navigate life’s twists and turns. And, as the saying goes, “every cloud has a silver lining” – I’ve found that each challenge has led to new opportunities and successes.

What sets me apart is my ability to distill complex technologies into engaging stories that captivate media, investors, and customers. My background in the entertainment industry has also given me an edge in creating attention-grabbing content and experiences that leave a lasting impression.

I’m most proud of the impact my work has on the businesses I serve. Whether it’s securing media coverage, driving website traffic, or supporting fundraising efforts, I love seeing the tangible results of my PR strategies. One of my proudest moments was when I secured a feature for my client in Bloomberg – a top-tier publication they had been eager to get into – just in my first month on the job! It was a challenging pitch, but I leveraged all my skills and relationships to make it happen, and it was an incredible feeling to deliver exactly what they wanted. Another highlight was helping a startup secure a feature in a top-tier publication, which led to a significant increase in leads and ultimately contributed to their successful acquisition.

But that’s not all – I’m also a content creator, and one of my biggest achievements was a reel of mine went viral and reached an astonishing 14 million views in just 4 days! It was a surreal experience, and I was thrilled to see how my content could resonate with such a massive audience.

What I’m known for is my creativity, strategic thinking, and ability to build strong relationships with media, influencers, and industry leaders. My clients appreciate my collaborative approach, attention to detail, and dedication to delivering exceptional results.

Ultimately, what sets me apart is my passion for storytelling, my ability to adapt and innovate, and my commitment to helping innovative companies make their mark in the world.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I would say that adaptability is the most important quality for my success. As a public relations manager and content creator, I work in fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and being able to adapt quickly to new situations, challenges, and trends is crucial.

Whether it’s pivoting a PR strategy to address a crisis, adjusting to a new social media algorithm, or learning a new skill to stay ahead of the curve, adaptability has allowed me to stay nimble and effective in my work. It’s also helped me to be resilient in the face of obstacles and to continuously learn and grow.

Additionally, adaptability has enabled me to be creative and innovative in my approach, which is essential for standing out in a crowded media landscape and for crafting compelling stories that resonate with diverse audiences.

Overall, I believe that adaptability is a superpower that has been essential to my success, and I continue to cultivate it every day.
