Today we’d like to introduce you to Ava Seenarine.
Hi Ava, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Ava! I’m the business owner and artist behind Mirage Media and Video, LLC. To be concise, I love to help people. It is natural for me to devote myself to creating something meaningful and beneficial for everyone that I meet. I love to “tune in” to everyone around me and understand their wants and needs. I acknowledge that this can be a gift and a curse. Still, each year, I strengthen my understanding of taking this purpose, being passionate about it, and making it my successful and fulfilling profession. Mirage Media began in 2017 as a podcast production company dedicated to amplifying the voices of influential and inspirational people. I found my purpose in helping wonderful people connect to new networks and share their experiences and ideologies. Upon the loss of the family members closest to me, I further realized how imperative it is to capture and preserve stories and memories. In the blink of an eye, the opportunity to ask my Grandmother for spiritual guidance was gone. At the snap of a finger, I could no longer listen to my Grandfather’s childhood stories for 6+ hours at a time. In a split second, I would lose the opportunity to learn more about my Grandparents’ pasts as thriving business owners. My deep love for the beautiful and significant people in my life fuels the fire beneath Mirage Media and Video. Without question, I can connect deeply to the indelible moments that I capture on video: tears of joy, roaring laughter, family history, long-lasting hugs, emotional vows, a packed dance floor, a promising business plan, and the list goes on. I believe that all of those things deserve to be commemorated and shared in the best possible way – with clear sound, vibrant color, and captivating motion. I’m eager to engage with anyone who shares this belief!
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has been smooth due to the family and community I’m surrounded by. Many entrepreneurs are in my circle, and we are always happy to support one another and share all that we’re experiencing and learning. This encouragement gets me through any obstacle I’ve faced since starting this business. I surely wouldn’t be here without them!
Thanks for sharing that. Please tell us more about your work.
I specialize in videography of different types. After 12 years of working in the wedding and event industry, I am extremely comfortable and knowledgeable in the private event arena. For this reason, filming weddings is a Mirage Media specialty. I’m acutely aware of timeline nuances and vendor responsibilities, so I’m often ten steps ahead and filming all of the right moments at the right time on such a momentous day! On the other hand, I love highlighting the passion and drive that I see in others, so I also specialize in branding and business visuals. I love having the opportunity to showcase people at their best! I provide social media management for businesses of different types and sizes – filming and publishing a person’s or organization’s strengths is fun and fulfilling! Also, I’ve been celebrating my wins lately…I’m proud that I dared to start something new when establishing this business. As they say, “you’re always a student,” and my journey to becoming the best possible camerawoman is never-ending. There were times when I wanted to give up on understanding aperture, shutter speed, lighting, and many other aspects of excellent videography. Thanks to the help of my wise and encouraging friends and family, I pushed through, and I will continue to! My 15-year career as a music & art educator to all ages sets me apart from other videographers and entrepreneurs. I’ve spent so much time intentionally understanding others and being geared to view the world from my students’ eyes. This level of open-mindedness and compassion gives me an edge that many clients mention in their testimonies after we work together!
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I love networking, and I appreciate this question! Being courageous enough to own your thoughts, feelings, and circumstances is the first thing that comes to mind. It takes honesty and humility to connect with people in meaningful ways. Once you’re ready to acknowledge where you are in your journey and what you need from yourself and from others, start reaching out to folks that you know will help you evolve. Be honest with them, and share your experiences, fears, ideas, and dreams. Don’t be upset if this strategy does not immediately yield fruitful results! Eventually, everything you share will fall upon the ears of someone who understands, appreciates, and roots for you! Honesty, humility, and patience! That’s my advice. Thank you for this very meaningful interview, VoyageRaleigh – Cheers!
