Today we’d like to introduce you to Briana Jicha.
Hi Briana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have loved jewelry for as long as I can remember. My Mom tells a story of me being distracted by my Grandmother’s jewelry during sessions of patty cake on her lap. Growing up jewelry from my Mom were gifts I could look forward to, but I also enjoyed the jewelry play kits that allowed me to create my own. When looking for a creative outlet during the early days of Covid, I discovered polymer clay and resin and began creating pieces I wanted to wear. What started as a hobby grew into a business that other women loved as well. Naming my business A’Dor was intentional- I wanted to adorn people in my wearable art. It’s been a fun, creative journey!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been both smooth and tough! Getting in my own head about my creativity is probably the hardest part of it all. I’m always looking for ways to innovate and stay true to my own ideas and process. Trusting that there is always looking for what I’m creating keeps me going. Also, the market has changed. People aren’t shopping like they once were. Keeping that in mind and being there for my repeat clients is huge. No need to reinvent the wheel, it’s already there.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create wearable art using mediums of clay, resin, and metals. The goal has always been to create lightweight earrings that are stylish and bold without compromising comfort. I’d say I’m known for bold colors and styles. The handmade earring market is huge – there are a lot of us creating beautiful pieces! I definitely bring a bold color palate to the space.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Going to the movies was a big thing in my family. It was something I could always look forward to. Christmas 1998, my entire family went to see The Prince Of Egypt and it was amazing! We were all very excited to see it and the movie was amazing. Just thinking about it I can feel the excitement all over again!
