Check Out Chelsea Richards’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Richards.

Hi Chelsea, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
A 24 years old native to parents from Trinidad and Tobago. I share my background because it has a huge influence on who I am today. Part of my upbringing stems from my parents and their hard work ethic to create a life of opportunities. I attended university, graduated with a full-time job offer, and owe all of that success to watching my hardworking parents. One of the reasons I started blogging was because one day, my sister asked me, “what do you enjoy outside of working?” I couldn’t really answer that question and realized I didn’t quite have a hobby outside of hanging out with friends and working. The blog honestlychelseablogs.com is a space where I can share many facets of a 24-year-old, navigating all things life, developing a career, and making a statement in outfits.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Although I have encountered many successes in my five months of blogging including brand collaborations, high engagement, and positive feedback, I can’t leave out challenging times behind the scenes. Feelings of self-doubt, comparisons against other successful bloggers, and lack of motivation at times.

As it relates to my personal life, one of my biggest obstacles was being rejected from a degree program at my university. A degree in which I currently hold today. Did not let rejection win. A year later, I reapplied to the degree program at my university and received acceptance. I hold this testament near to my heart because it speaks to the idea of receiving many no’s in life only to then receive a yes. My challenges in life are the reasons why I can share my story. Someone can relate, learn and feel inspired.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Lifestyle and Career blogger while working full time in consulting at a large global insurance broker. On the blog, I share tip+ tricks of working in corporate while sharing motivational topics and my style as a girl in her 20’s. I am most proud of my internal growth since graduating college. As we get older, there is a clear understanding of needs and wants. I know that I need to continue sharing from my perspective because this is bigger than me and someone can benefit from this content, feel inspired and maybe even share their story one day.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Although this may sound funny, my favorite childhood memory is receiving money from my granny to buy some goods from the parlor in Trinidad and later being chased by dogs, running home, and dropping the money. All before making it to the store!!

There is so much inspiration between these lines. It is a testament to the fact that parents are profoundly influencing their children even when they think children are not watching.
