Check Out Dasean Burnette’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dasean Burnette

Hi Dasean, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I love this question; I can’t deny it when people ask me in person. I typically replay with the Russell Westbrook Rock-A-Baby, and then they immediately understand that I’ve been creating art for ages. From womb to tomb, creation is the life I live daily.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life is like a box of chocolates melting in a whip low on freon amid a sizzling D.C. summer traffic jam. You know, no A.C. bro, it’s broke, instead Wutang C.R.E.A.M blasting out the radio. Anything worth doing, living being bold is never really vanilla glam but more like a rocky road. Indeed, you better know that some struggles are symptoms we expect and embrace. There are times when my mind is like a bolder in a breeze. I struggle with patience in the small wins. Sometimes you can’t see the forest from the trees.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I like to accomplish arrays of things, yet I will condense it to being myself. I carry fulfillment in tenacity and playing the hand God dealt. My mind reviews back in a daze where I grew. Way before Yelp, Days Before Rodeo, Bebo, TikTok, and even YouTube, I loved penciling in coloring books, drawing cartoons, and chugging Yoo-Hoo. I can attribute those things to the way my creations express the way they do. Unique is my vision; My work is specialized distinctively in an overstated way. I rebel with my truth and nestle within my spirit. I will attribute the preceding accusations to my style being so ambitious.

My art is the residue of ballet in mixed media fueled by a ballad featuring predominantly ink and acyclic because oils give me fits. Although one seldom is done discovering new tricks, I consider creativity a sponge but never square like the one from Nick. I oddly view myself as fairly new within the North Carolina Art scene, yet the fact that I am blessed enough to play my role marks a wish come true. You asked, “What are you known for”? Honestly, I have the slightest clue. I suspect that my art is recognizable for its feature of eccentric expressions and flamboyant and zany hues.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The COVID panny taught me that patience is a virtue, the ordinary can be sacred, don’t take people for granted, and that life is what you make it. Time is fleeting daily so never ever-ever waste it.
