Check Out David Perez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Perez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started acting ten years ago. About halfway through, I fell in love with filmmaking as well. As the years have gone by, I’ve been blessed to be apart of so many opportunities, not only to grow as an individual but also, being able to help and watch others grow and reach their goals.
Today, I feel that the journey is truly amazing and I continue to learn new things everyday. The opportunity to learn is always around us and I try my best, (I may not always get there), to make each day a day that I learn something new. Even if it seems like the smallest detail, every little bit helps.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Has it been a smooth road? Absolutely not! AND! That is okay. The struggles will always be there however, they help you grow. Apart of the process is being told no, of course that’s not what we want to hear but that is apart of this business. That no can be for any reason under the sun so you can’t take it personal. Having said that, it’s hard for all of us to try and live that until we understand it on a deeper level. Since being behind the camera and going through casting processes, I understand that struggle a little more now.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an Actor and Filmmaker. I have been acting for 10 years now and love every second of it. I’ve learned to find the love in the tough moments to help me stay focused and keep driving forward. Learning new things about myself and how to truly give 100% to the craft has been a blessing and allowed me to be apart of so many amazing opportunities.
Filmmaking has become apart of me over the past 5 years. I started a production company this year called, 86 The Studio. I’m an 80’s baby (86 more specifically) so it only felt right when my sister brought the concept to me. We make short films and web series that we post on the 86 The Studio YouTube channel. We have quite a few projects up on the channel and a lot that are currently in development. Filmmaking has helped develop and make amazing connections that have led to not only opportunities behind the camera, but even more opportunities acting as well.
I don’t have an “I’m most proud of” moment just yet. Each opportunity has helped shape me in some way that has made me who I am today. I’ve loved every project that I have been apart of and look forward to working and growing with people moving forward.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Reach out. That would be my one piece of advice, reach out to people that you trust and see if they are willing to mentor you. Don’t be afraid to lean into an opportunity either, you never what or who you may come across that can help you as well as allow you to give something back.
