Today we’d like to introduce you to Dj Ray

DJ Ray, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been DJing since I was 13. I went to my cousin’s wedding and was infatuated with the DJ. I spent most of my time on the stage with him. He let me pick some CDs, and from then on, I was hooked.

That year, my parents got me some basic equipment for Christmas, and I was off to the races! I went from the living room to private parties for friends and church groups.

Over the years, I’ve done just about everything you can think of. About 13 years ago, I started hosting trivia and continue to do that today. Over the last few years, I’ve shifted my focus from parties to weddings.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think there is such a thing as a smooth road. Everything has its highs and lows.

One of the biggest struggles was from 2020, when I wasn’t hosting trivia and no one was getting married.

Any time you make significant changes in your operations, there will be a certain amount of fear. You have to work through that to come out on the other side. Sometimes, you get to the other side, and it’s not what you want.
I was fortunate to be able to focus on other passions and hobbies to keep myself busy during that time.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in Weddings. I love hosting trivia, but there is nothing like the satisfaction you get at the end of a wedding when the couple comes up and gives you a big hug and says thanks for making their day special!

I’m the most proud of the attention to detail I can give to the little moments that have such a significant impact. I don’t just play music. I give the couple the experience they want for their special day.

How do you think about happiness?
At its core, I think the relationships I form make me happy. From my wife, family, and friends to the people I meet at work.

I’m riding the motorcycle or doing projects in the garage when I’m not working. I have more than enough hobbies to keep me busy!
