Check Out Ebony M. Walker’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony M. Walker.

Hi Ebony M., we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely. My journey began with a simple yet powerful truth: words have weight. As a young woman, I found solace and strength in writing due to a speech impediment. Because I stuttered horribly, I would simply create ways to share and document my thoughts through journal entries (diaries), poems, stories, and more. All of it was a way to make sense of the world around me. But I never imagined that gift would one day become the foundation of my career and calling.

I officially stepped into the writing industry nearly a decade ago as a ghostwriter, helping people bring their ideas to life on paper. Over time, I realized that I wasn’t just helping them write books—I was midwifing transformation. That realization led to the birth of Walk UpWrite, now under rebrand as UpWrite Media, where I serve as a Publishing Strategist, Communications Coach, and Screenwriter.

Today, I have the honor of guiding thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and everyday visionaries in turning their wisdom into impactful content—books, speeches, scripts, and more. Every step, even the painful ones, have served a purpose. And now, I use everything I’ve been through—personally and professionally—to help others walk boldly into their next chapter.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all—and I’m actually grateful for that. The road has been anything but smooth, but every detour, delay, and disappointment served a purpose. My journey has been proof of Romans 8:28.

One of the most challenging seasons came when I was pouring into everyone else’s vision—ghostwriting books, building platforms, crafting brand messages—yet silently wrestling with burnout and questioning if my own voice even mattered. I had to confront the fear that maybe I was only meant to push others, not rise myself.

There were financial struggles, missed opportunities, and moments where I felt hidden in plain sight. But again, I have always held on to Romans 8:28—“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” That verse remains my anchor. It reminded me that even my pain was producing something on purpose.

What looked like setbacks were actually setups. Training grounds that deepened my character, sharpened my message, and prepared me to lead at a higher level. The road wasn’t smooth, but it was sacred. I cried, but I didn’t quit. I suffered losses, but I didn’t lose. And I wouldn’t trade the struggle, because it shaped the strength I now stand in. When you get results like that, it’s hard not to appreciate the steps that led you there.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am “Ebony The Provoker” – a Publishing Strategist, Communications Coach, and Screenwriter. I help visionaries, thought leaders, and faith-driven professionals birth books, brands, and bold messages that shift culture and spark change.

Through my company, UpWrite Media (formerly Walk UpWrite), I specialize in helping clients repurpose their existing content—sermons, speeches, journals, even conversations—into high-impact resources like books, articles, courses, keynote messages, or screenplays. I don’t just help people write; I help them reveal—to extract purpose from their experiences and turn their wisdom into legacy.

I’m most proud of the transformation my clients experience. It’s not just about getting published; it’s about becoming the version of yourself that your next chapter requires. Whether I’m ghostwriting a book, coaching a CEO, or writing a script that brings healing to the screen, my work is deeply prophetic and powerfully practical.

What sets me apart is my spiritual sensitivity combined with strategic execution. I hear between the lines, and I help people say what they really mean with clarity, authority, and anointing. I don’t just produce content—I provoke identity. That’s my lane. That’s my assignment.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
My favorite book would have to be The Holy Bible. It’s a personal compass and genuinely provides every answer to every question. I also absolutely love “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. There are several newsletters that I follow via LinkedIn, which is also a very pivotal platform. I do enjoy other video series and podcasts, mostly ones that I just “happen” to find when I need a good message or rerouting.
