Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Steed. Them and their team share their story with us below:
My dream became a reality 20 years ago and the Super Stylist flourished into more than a caged-in talent. She became the master of her domain. Who is she? She is Ebony Steed. Her career began in her hometown of Oxford, N.C.
She’s an accomplished published Master Hairstylist and Makeup Artist. Her first publication came from JCPenney as she was featured as one of JCP’s top trending stylists. During her 5-year career journey at JCP Ebony managed to become a Master Hairstylist.
Not only is she a Master Hairstylist but she’s also a Master Colorist This phenomenal stylist was awarded a bronze “Good Looks” medal for $50,000 in service sales. She was also given the name “Super Stylist” by Atlanta’s Hair Stare Magazine. “I can truly say that I’ve fought for my spotlight to shine in this industry and I’m grateful for every opportunity given to me.” Ebony has also traveled to Atlanta to be a part of the glam team as a stylist for Nakeisha of the Atlanta Hawks cheerleading team.
She’s a certified RAW Artist who was invited by the California-based company to participate in the RAW Artist Showcase in Raleigh, N.C. to bring her talent to life on stage. A major part of her success comes from God and her mentor Jesseca Dupart Harris (DaRealBBJudy) CEO and owner of Kaleidoscope Hair Products.
Ebony has built her brand, name, and clientele which has allowed her to make her mark in the beauty industry. Her vision and talents have led her to be the successful businesswoman that she is today. She adds a personal touch to every client she services. Clients receive the ultimate hair experience and gain a substantial amount of confidence in their character.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I can honestly say that the road has not been easy. Every struggle that I’ve endured has made me stronger. I’ve dealt with the social media bashing which was horrible and almost made me give up on my career.
Of course, you have to deal with the naysayers but I used those people to climb higher into my destiny. I take pride in knowing that what doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger, wiser, bold, confident, and more passionate about your craft.
This may sound weird but, I’m thankful for my obstacles as they pushed me to be greater!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m kind of a diverse stylist and I can do several things but, I’m mostly known for my dynamic color services. Whenever I have the opportunity to walk into my rainbows and unicorns world I become this artist who dreams in color.
During my color services I’m able to provide these gorgeous vivid colors, sometimes I’m doing 5-6 colors at one time. I’m able to blend the colors so they’re cohesive to create beautiful color combinations. What sets me apart from others is that I’m not afraid to break the rules and barriers to create abstract expressionism within hair coloring.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Omg, they’re so many people but I definitely have to give the utmost credit to God first! Without him, nothing I’ve ever accomplished would be possible. My family, friends, and clients have definitely been supporters of my career and are always there to keep me focused. My strong work ethic comes from my mother Sandra Steed. She’s always worked so I have never known what it’s like to be lazy. I’ve always worked hard as she did.
My uncle Ervin Davis III taught me the value of being a strong-minded business owner and also how to manage employees. His guidance helped me become the businesswoman I am today.
Jesseca Dupart Harris CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products mentored me and taught me how to grow my business through Instagram. She also had me doing a 6-month challenge with her to Pray Through The Process while building my business and also gave me the knowledge needed to start my own business.
Having the opportunity to sit under her in Atlanta was nothing short of amazing. These people have been my pushers and pullers. My uncle always says you must have someone to push you and someone to pull you into your destiny. Therefore everyone should have pushers and pullers in their life. I’m thankful for mine.
