Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Umstead.

Eric Umstead

Hi Eric, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in Cary, NC. When I was in high school, my parents got a divorced. My mom and I moved to Wake Forest, NC. I went to high school at Wake Forest Rolesville High. It was my senior year, and I needed to choose an elective. My mom suggested I take theater. I never thought about theater a day in my life. So, I gave it a shot. I loved it. I loved it so much I went to college at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, NC, and majored in Film. I was active on campus with many different projects and screenwriting. I also was accepted in Alpha Psi Omega National Theater Honor Society,

After graduating in 2012, I did not utilize my degree. It wasn’t until 2017 when my wife encouraged me to pursue my passion and use my gift. Since then, I have been posting comedy skits on social media platforms (E_Tyler0105). I enjoy seeing the reactions when I post. It motivates me and keeps me pushing for more opportunities.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges has been staying motivated. When my wife decided to go back to school, I took a step back from posting on the regular so I could work 3 jobs to provide for us.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I create comedy skits/reels on social media. When I create skits, everything is improv; I record whatever comes to mind. I’m most proud of myself for taking a leap of faith and using the gift that God has blessed me with.

What are your plans for the future?
I’m looking forward to being more consistent and being in films in my future.
