Hi Hannah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been fascinated by the power of storytelling. Since being raised as a hobbit-loving hippy, I have found relief from life’s challenges in rock and roll and fantasy novels. As I got older, I dove into the study of the inner workings of books: how does a person take the spark of an idea in their mind into a legacy novel? I found that writers often had incredible editors on their team, helping them polish their stories into their best form that the author could be incredibly proud to share with the world. For the past seven years, I’ve worked with dozens of authors across genres, with a unique “comprehensive editing” style that has created life-changing, bestselling books. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a storyteller (or working intimately in the publishing industry) is never easy. Especially because I tend to specialize in the nonfiction realm, often my authors are telling the stories of their lives. They openly, honestly display all their triumphs and failures on paper to educate and inspire their readers. This is the most vulnerable art form in the world, and as an editor, I’ve learned how to honor my authors’ voices in their stories while helping them craft a compelling, unique book. I’ve found that listening for the most powerful threads of story and teaching my authors how to showcase them has made all the difference.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
In my world, nothing beats Tolkien. That’s where the magic all started and continues to be inspired through countless modern tales that capture the same powerful, ageless themes of good versus evil. The same can be said for Led Zeppelin, the height of all prowess in lyrical storytelling and musical talent. I’m constantly inspired, on the other end of the spectrum, by my memoir writing clients who teach and inspire through their own journeys. I have recently begun publishing my own writing, a fantasy trilogy called “Freedom for Rhethos.” The first book in this series will be published June 13th, called “The Rebel in Violet.” This is a lifetime achievement for me and contains a story very close to my heart.
