Check Out Jack Murray and Chelsey Rená’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Murray and Chelsey Rená. Them and their team share their story with us below:

The band began in New York City a few years ago while Jack was finishing graduate school. And then later, he moved to Baltimore. After a couple of years playing there, the band was re-formed in North Carolina at the height of the pandemic. Chelsey joined during this time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was quite a challenge to be starting everything up again during a period where everything was shut down, especially since we had just met.

We weren’t able to practice as much or hang out to get to know each other, and when we did we obviously had to keep a distance. However, we immediately clicked musically and as friends. In some ways, having that time to play together without the pressure of doing shows, touring, recording, etc.

Helped us become a stronger unit, even though it also slowed down our progress.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a music duo that plays in a rock/punk rock/garage rock style. Our music is all original.

We perform live and have released two full-length recordings. Although we are a duo, we perform live like a three-piece (guitar/vox, bass, and drums). Jack uses guitars that are modified in which he can perform both guitar and bass parts at the same time.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
We believe things that happen in life simply create pivot points. There are moments where you have to step back and make decisions to either overcome or take advantage of whatever has presented itself.

Whether that situation will eventually be considered good luck or bad luck often depends on how things unfold down the road. Even tragedies can create opportunities for change that then lead to better days ahead. But no one would call a tragedy good luck right?

So, it’s better to just remain focused, make good decisions, and always be ready to adapt.
