Check Out Jessica McQueen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica McQueen.

Hi Jessica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Honestly, I haven’t gotten to where I want to be in life yet. I am ever changing and ever evolving. There have been some wins and there have been some losses. As far as how I got to where I am now, its been a winding road filled with changing seasons and many speed bumps. When I was in my teens, I was set on being in the military. That’s all I thought about and that’s all I ever wanted to do. I never knew what I would want to do outside of that because for me the military was all I could envision. I am a proud veteran of the Air Force. I got to complete my dream, but it was cut short unfortunately. I only served 8 years and decided to get out due to being freshly married and a growing family. Its probably one of the only decisions that I regret that I left the military when I should of stayed. I’ve experienced a lot of self-doubt and identity issues in the past where I was unsure on what I would do, who I was, and what I was able to accomplish. But success and accomplishment come in many different ways. And although I had a particular plan for my life, I was learning that God has other plans for me. One of my favorite scriptures is Romans 8:28, “But we know that all things work together for them that love the Lord and are called according to HIS purpose.” I never saw myself as an author, but I am today. I never saw myself as a minister, but I am today. I never planned on being an entrepreneur, but I am today. And so many other things I have accomplished through by submission to God and willing to understand who I am through his eyes and who he has created me to be.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It absolutely has NOT been a smooth road! That’s comical because honestly, nothing is ever smooth. Life is filled with twists, turns, bumps, ups, downs, and all arounds. If it were smooth, I probably wouldn’t trust it. One of the things that I struggled with was the faith to believe in the beginning of my evolution to becoming who I am now. I always had faith. But when its tested and you’re the only one who believes what you believe it can become difficult. Its hard to believe you’re a multi-millionaire when you can’t even pay your car payment on time. Faith is something that is always tested no matter what season or level you’re in, but each season or level causes you faith not just to be tested but to mature. And as time has gone, mine has matured in such a way I never thought possible. Another struggle was allowing God to do what he wanted to do in HIS time. Its hard to understand and accept the fact that our timing is NOT God’s timing. In fact, time is not a factor him. I always say, HE IS TIME. Time doesn’t begin until he steps onto the scene. And sometimes when you are eager, possibly desperate and just real need a breakthrough, its hard to have to WAIT ON GOD. But waiting on God, is the best way. In fact there is no other way, than to wait on GOD, on his timing for his promises when HE has established it to be.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I think over the last 5-6 years, I have reinvented myself over and over both intentionally and unintentionally. I am known to most as a mother, wife, minister, author, or serial entrepreneur. I’m the kind of person that want to see people win. I’m a natural motivator and pusher. Which means, if you tell me you want to accomplish something, I become full on invested and push you until you make it. I promote myself but I love supporting and promoting others in their endeavors. I like to think of myself as a resource. Tons of people have come to me over the years looking for certain things and I either am able to fulfill their need or put them in contact with someone else who can. I believe in soaking up as much knowledge and utilizing wisdom to become a walking resource center to your community.

I got into entrepreneurship in 2020, right when Covid was at its highest. I entered in with my husband as we decided to start our own trucking business. Through that I took it upon myself to learn everything I could about the trucking industry. The ins and outs so that we could be proud of the service we would be providing. What started off as a hobby to me and just working behind the scenes led to me helping others get into trucking and even teaching people how to start their own company through trucking and dispatching. This taste of entrepreneurship stuck with me. I knew that is what I was supposed to be doing because it allowed us to put our family in a better position but most importantly we were in the position to impact and influence our community, which is very important to me. This business helped me birth a successful tax business as well as a lingerie boutique. Currently, I have found my footing in real estate which has been a life long dream of mine. Its my dream to own multiple properties and to be able to provide affordable homes for single moms. Real estate is a stepping stone for me to be able to fully implement my overall purpose.

My tenacity and passion to help others is what sets me apart. Obviously, the majority enter into their career field or business because of money. And helping people may come in 2nd place. But for me, helping people has always come 1st. I do believe that if you aren’t happy with what you are doing, it doesn’t matter what amount of money you make. You really do have to have a passion to do the things that you do or it will show your work ethnic. The saying is true, your passion or dream career is the one you don’t mind NOT getting paid for. And for me, as much as I love money like the next person, my passion to help others mean more. I mean think about it with real estate. You never know when your next big sale is. There are dry seasons. There are times when nothing coming through and yet most of us stick it out. We may have a part-time gig, but yet in still its our passion to help others obtain or sell a home that keeps in the world of real estate.

Out of everything that I have accomplished thus far, I am most proud of being a mother. There is no greater accomplishment that being a mother to my boys. I talk a lot about influence, impact, and motivating, but before the community hears me, my children hear me first. Its important for me to be able to pour into the vessels that reside in my own just like I would to the community. And each day, I get to see physical evidence of their growth based off of what I teach and pour into them. With the community, I am not able to always see the manifestation of what they have learned from me. However, I get to watch my children grow, mature, and become greats because of how we raised them.

How do you define success?
Success is similar to beauty. It’s in the eye of the beholder. Success can be defined in so many different ways. Honestly, speaking its different for everyone. Some would define success with how much money one makes. How many cars they have. If they have trust accounts. If they own multiple homes, yachts, or designer clothes. But honestly, tangible things really don’t hold any real value. Its valuable in the sense of its monetary value. But overall it has no real value for the long-term.

If what I am doing fulfills me then I am successful. If my children have no needs or wants, then I am successful. If what I am doing positions me to better someone else life, then I am successful. Money is always good, but what’s the point of having money without happiness? I believe in whole-life prosperity. Meaning every single area of my life is prospering: marriage, business, health, wealth, children, family, etc. then I’m successful.
