Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh And Alisha Croghan.
Hi Josh and Alisha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Of course! To start, we’re Josh and Alisha — the husband and wife team behind Him & Her Photography. What started as a side hustle while we were still finishing college has grown into a full-time business built around preserving love stories and life’s milestones — all while growing our own family and moving across states.
Our love for photography goes way back — back to disposable cameras and early digital point-and-shoots. Even as kids, we were the ones always taking photos at family gatherings, summer vacations, and everyday moments. We just never thought it could be a career. Not until later, anyway.
In the early years, we juggled school, part-time jobs, and photo sessions squeezed into weekends and golden hours. Long before we ever stepped into classrooms as teachers, photography was quietly becoming something bigger than we imagined. And yet, teaching played an important role too — it taught us the value of connection, communication, and walking alongside people through meaningful seasons of life.
When we got married ourselves, everything shifted. Our wedding experience opened our eyes to how sacred it is to trust someone with your most important memories. We learned firsthand how powerful it is to have a photographer who really sees you — who understands the value of not just the big moments, but the quiet ones, too. That trust is what we now strive to give every single couple and family we work with.
Over the years, our business has grown alongside us — from early shoots in small towns to destination weddings and multi-day events. From newlyweds to parents. From a side hustle to a thriving team. And no matter how much things evolve, the heart behind it all stays the same: connection, care, and capturing honest, beautiful moments that matter.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When we started our business, we were juggling everything — finishing college, working full-time jobs, raising kids, and still making time for our marriage. Photography was our passion, but we didn’t have a financial safety net or family support to fall back on. Every decision we made had to be thoughtful and intentional.
There were late nights editing after the kids went to bed, weekends booked solid with sessions, and seasons where it felt like we were stretched way too thin. Growth came slowly, but steadily — and looking back, we’re grateful for that. It taught us patience, grit, and how to build something lasting.
We couldn’t take every big risk. We didn’t scale overnight. But we did keep showing up. We learned to honor our pace, to protect our family time, and to grow a business that could support our life — not the other way around.
It hasn’t always been easy. But it’s ours. And it’s a story we’re proud of.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize in documenting weddings and milestones (engagements, bridals, anniversaries, growing families) with a blend of timeless style and emotional storytelling. We’re known for capturing both the beautiful details and the real, unscripted moments — the kind you might not even notice until you see them in a photo and suddenly feel them all over again.
What sets us apart isn’t just our style — it’s the experience. We bring warmth, calm, and clarity to every step of the process. We know how to communicate clearly, help people feel comfortable in front of the camera, and stay grounded even on high-energy wedding days. We show up not just as photographers, but as people who genuinely care.
We’re most proud of the trust we’ve built with couples, planners, and families who invite us into their biggest moments. Many of our clients have become lifelong friends. Some come back to us for maternity sessions, branding shoots, or holiday cards years after their wedding day. That kind of continued connection is everything to us.
At the end of the day, we don’t take it lightly that people choose us to document something they can’t do over. That trust is sacred. And we do our best to honor it every single time.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
First and foremost, our clients. From the very beginning, it’s been the couples and families who trusted us before we had a big portfolio, who told their friends, who left heartfelt reviews, and who came back to us year after year. Their loyalty, encouragement, and belief in our work have been the foundation of our growth.
We’ve also been surrounded by an incredible network of vendors and fellow creatives who have supported us, referred us, collaborated with us, and cheered us on behind the scenes. Planners, florists, makeup artists, and venue managers who value the way we work and speak highly of us to their clients — that word-of-mouth is gold, and we’re deeply grateful.
Mentors and coaches have helped us refine our vision, pricing, and confidence, especially during those seasons where we knew we were capable of more but didn’t quite know how to take the next step. Working with people who challenged us to think bigger and lead with purpose changed everything.
And of course — our family. Raising kids, running a business, and keeping our marriage strong has taken so much support, grace, and encouragement. There have been babysitters who watched the kids during editing marathons, friends who believed in us when things felt slow, and parents who helped us believe this dream was worth pursuing.
Every bit of success we’ve had is because people showed up for us, spoke our names in rooms we weren’t in, and reminded us to keep going. We’re endlessly thankful for them.
