Check Out KaShay Evans’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to KaShay Evans.

Hi KaShay, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started in 1993 when Barb (my Mother) wouldn’t let me dress, a then super confident three-nager. I threw a tantrum. More likely in protecting my autonomy or for no reason, but I’ve been wreaking havoc on the style game ever since. As a plus-size woman, I’ve always enjoyed disrupting the status quo of fashion and style, but it hasn’t been easy. Growing up with a larger body [comparitively] to my peers, I became hyper-aware of my shape, size, and differences at an early age. I’ve been attentive to the strategies I needed to dress my body in an authentic way. Pair my love of style with the other thing I love, sneakers, and you’ve got KASHAY. In middle school, I used to beg my Mom for Air force 1s (and 2s which were popular back in the early 2000s), jordans, and more. We would camp outside of sneaker stores when I got to high school to ensure I’d get my pair of J’s to wear with my cheerleading warm-up suit when I made the team. As I’ve aged, my love for fashion, style, and sneakers have made the sweetest niche for me to share with the world ways to live stylishly every day.

You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
One of my biggest struggles in sharing my plus-size fashion with the world is the uniqueness of sizing across industry brands. This has long been a challenge for plus-size people. We’ve yearned for representation in pieces fit for the ‘traditionally sized.’ It makes it even more challenging with fast fashion these days, where the clothing is made for plus-size women. Still, quality and sustainability are often not top priorities for companies and manufacturers that take advantage of today’s consumer trends.

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m Everyday KaShay, a plus-size sneakerhead helping people live stylishly daily. I am a social media content creator and influencer who makes personal style videos to help plus-size women find their style. I’m proud of the brand and the business I’m building to help others, and I can’t wait to share more with the world.

What characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to if you had to?
Ambition – I have many goals and aspirations for this lifetime. I would’ve never thought I’d be an entrepreneur, but my ambition, drive, and faith have prepared me for and brought me to my destiny.
