Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Pugh

Kevin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have enjoyed and pursued photography my whole life. I’ve had a camera since I was very young and could always be found taking pictures of everything in my path. I started with a Polaroid One-Step instant camera and from there I was hooked. Currently, I use Sony Alpha series mirrorless cameras for extremely clear and crisp photos. I love taking unique photos through different angles, forced perspective, etc. that reflect an alternative point of view.

I specialize in architectural photography. My business launched as a real estate photography and video service but has since evolved to also offer artistic prints for home and office.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest struggle in photography is finding clientele. The road is bumpy but I have learned so much about the best ways to pique people’s interest in the craft through my network of other photographers in the area.

I have many shows coming up over the next several months (dates and locations to come) and this spring look to have a booth at the Farmers Market to sell prints and mingle with all of you.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
By trade I am a restauranteur. I have been serving communities in hospitality for nearly 40 years. Starting from my home town of Charlottesville, Virginia, to Chicago, New York City and Washington DC… now here in Raleigh at North Hills Club.

The photography has followed along with me as I have been to so many cool places and seen so many cool things.

Raleigh is where my photography really took a turn for the better! Here I have received so much enthusiastic support for my craft and I am involved in many local photography groups.

I think that my eye is what sets me apart from other photographers. I see the world in a different way than most…. notice things that no one else notices…

I often get asked the question, ” What type or style of photography?”
I just shoot what I see and like… NO BOUNDARIES!!

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
We take risks every day just living life to the fullest!! I live for the moment, if i find myself in a situation that is risky I will judge accordingly and act responsibly. Mostly the risks I take in photography have to do with things such as ledges, wildlife and physical boundaries/property lines etc
