Check Out Megan Vincent’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Vincent.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always enjoyed DIY, I started around 2016 flipping furniture and building dog beds selling them on Facebook and for friends as a hobby.

In 2020, like most people, I was working from home a lot and started evaluating what I really wanted my future to be and the vision I had for my career and life. I downloaded TikTok and started posting a few home DIY videos and a couple of videos took off leading me to launch my Etsy shop.

I decided this is what I want, this is what I see for my future. I invested in my shop and started designing.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Time is the biggest challenge for me.

I am not at a point financially in my business to leave my full-time job. I work during the day, go home, and immediately get to work on my business.

There is no time off, no vacation days, and no sick days, but I truly believe all the hard work will be worth it!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in laser cutting and engraving and outdoor games.

I don’t know if it’s good to brag about the item that I am most known for/proud of, but I am! My viral TikTok moment that led to my Etsy shop is of me creating a drinking game (stacking blocks/Jenga).

The game features oversized wooden blocks with hollowed-out hidden spots for jello shots, and now, I have made several other blocks to fit mini bottles. It has been a huge success in sales and a hit anywhere I bring it to play. (bbq, party, beach, mountain, bachelorette trips).

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think I take very calculated risks right now, but I believe you have to be willing to take a risk to succeed.

Financial risk is probably the major risk I have taken so far. I was terrified when I made my first investment in a laser cutter. I had no idea if I would be able to pay it off.

Would my designs sell? It ended up being the best investment I made, and I paid it off within the first two months! Now I have been looking into even larger laser cutters to expand!

Pricing:

  • Jello Shot Stacking Blocks $155-$175
