Today we’d like to introduce you to Moody Molavi.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began my comedic career 14 years ago from a dare to enter a contest. Out of 21 people, I won first place. I couldn’t believe it. I went onto the next competition with 77 people and landed in 3rd place. The owner of that club offered me to emcee the next weekend. I quickly accepted the offer and hosted 6 shows per week for the next 6 months until I wrecked my motorcycle in May 2010. Almost three years went by before I tried to perform again.
I began going to open mics and ended up attaining the role of house emcee for my home club for three years. Supporting a family, I had to work full-time while pursuing comedy. I began going on the road in 2015 and was fortunate to win the Chattanooga, TN satellite for the World Series of Comedy in 2016. That win propelled me to feature in more clubs and with more headliners across the country. I began headlining in 2018 in small theaters and comedy clubs throughout the South. In 2020, I began working corporate and church events. As we booked more events, we began our company in 2021 named Moodyvation, LLC.
Now, I do both jobs full-time. Performing for Moodyvation while continuing to work full time in IT in corporate America. Our company focuses primarily on corporate and church events while promoting small theater shows while still booking comedy clubs as much as possible.
I recorded a comedy special titled “Remove Before Flight” with Dry Bar Comedy in 2019. We are releasing a new special titled “Mood Therapy” in mid-January 2024 with Bad Passwords Records.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The motorcycle wreck caused both physical and mental anguish. I had a major wreck in 1990 when I was 15 years old that obliterated my right femur and left ankle. It took me nearly 9 months before I could walk again. The motorcycle wreck re-injured the left foot as well as my back. As a result, standing up to do comedy has its challenges.
January 9, 2015, I surprisingly lost my corporate America job of 15 years. I felt I was at a crossroads and had to pour more of myself into comedy as my corporate career had just vanished. I accepted just about every gig as I was looking for a job to support my family. I eventually landed another corporate job in October that would support my family, but this time, I kept pursuing comedy as much as possible. In 2019, I began working remotely full-time which afforded me to perform more venues across the country as I do today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
“Human I Thank You” is an initiative I promote at my shows.
We are all made uniquely. No two people are the same. Not even twins. We have our own likes and dislikes. Our own unique qualities that make us who we are.
Instead of looking for how someone can be good for me, Human I Thank You encourages me to see how my unique qualities can be good for the other person. How can I serve the person in front of me?
Since I am an outgoing guy. I ask them their name. I continue to ask questions to learn something about them. By doing that, I show interest in them. I show them I genuinely value them.
One of the most impactful things we can do is to say thank you. Saying thank you for someone saying “yes” to accepting the position they hold today. Otherwise, we would have never had this chance to meet. We would have never had the opportunity to serve one another.
When I serve others, it encourages others to do the same. This is my definition of “humanity”. When I break this word down, it says, “Human, I thank you.”
When sharing the message of Human I Thank You, we encourage others to share their uniqueness with the persons in front of them while removing the thought to compare ourselves to others.
You and I are both incomparable. I thank you for being unique. I thank you for being incomparable. Human. I Thank You.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Invite me to come speak at your event. Purchase the merchandise promoting Moodyvation. Embrace Human I Thank You. Serve the people that show up in front of you.
