Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Speer.
Hi Nikki, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I became a co-founder alongside my husband Gerrod about 5.5 years ago. My mom, Virginia was battling breast cancer that had come back on her skin and she didn’t feel beautiful. I made her a promise that I would design clothing to make her feel beautiful again. With this spoken promise, I began a journey of designing, creating and founding not only a business but also a nonprofit that would inevitably help hundreds, possibly even thousands of women recovering from breast surgery all around the USA.
As of May 2021, we have dissolved our organization for many reasons but one being focusing on our family with three amazing teenagers. I am currently seeking to help others grow their businesses with social media and innovative ideas as well as continue my podcast Courage Collective for new entrepreneurs.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! So many bumps along the way, and I am grateful for every one of those bumps. I believe the hardships helped me grow personally and professionally. I would not be the woman I am today without the pain, sorrow, joy and accomplishments that have taken place in the last few years.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am currently podcasting and consulting new business owners with their goals and social media.
I am known for being a ‘hype girl’ for amazing friends and brands I know. This is one thing I do well, connecting friends to people I think they should know and also encouraging them in just how amazing they are, right where they are! I am not sure what sets me apart from others; I just know that when I show up in the world, I want to be someone that creates joy and brings a smile to your face.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I have had an incredible support system throughout my life… My number one is my husband Gerrod- He was the most genuine, honest voice throughout our 17 years of marriage and all the ideas I have had along the way.
Then there was an amazing, Godly example Rachael Smith, she is the founder of Oh Lord Help us with a social enterprise Hope + Vine…at the start of the pandemic, we started a leadership zoom meeting every Wednesday to stay accountable in our business and life. What an absolute gem of a person and friend
Most recently, Karla Sotomeyer who owns FAVE nutrition was the best supporter our organization had- from being creative in drawing in the community to support us to sharing on social about us and most recently supporting our decision to close our doors with the most understanding heart.
I am a blessed woman to be loved and cheered on by so many people.
