Today we’d like to introduce you to Prophet Clint & Pastor Rosa Burwell.
Hi Prophet Clint & Pastor Rosa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Our story is one of grace, redemption, and divine purpose. Upon This Rock Ministries was birthed out of a season of transformation in our lives — a time when God’s hand was clearly guiding us toward something greater than ourselves.
Prophet Clint’s journey began with powerful personal encounters with God that completely changed the course of his life. What was once a life marked by struggle became a testimony of deliverance and spiritual victory. Pastor Rosa’s journey was one of steadfast faith and a heart for people, which naturally aligned with Clint’s calling. Together, we discovered that our experiences — both the victories and the hardships — were meant to equip us to help others find hope, healing, and direction in Christ.
We began by serving faithfully wherever God opened a door — teaching Bible study, leading prayer meetings, and serving those in need. Over time, that faithfulness led to the founding of Upon This Rock Ministries in Oxford, North Carolina. From day one, our focus has been clear: to build people, not just programs; to cultivate a church where the presence of God is tangible, and where lives are truly changed.
Today, we are humbled to see how God has grown this ministry. From community outreach and food distribution to spiritual counseling and teaching, everything we do flows from one central truth — that Jesus Christ is still transforming lives. Our mission is to be a place of refuge and empowerment for all who walk through our doors, and a beacon of light for our community.
We often say that our journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it. Every step has deepened our faith, refined our vision, and reminded us that when God calls you, He equips you.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all — the road has been anything but smooth, but it has been purposeful. Ministry has a way of stretching you, shaping you, and revealing what’s truly in your heart. For us, the challenges we’ve faced have been some of our greatest teachers.
In the early years, resources were limited. There were times when we had more vision than we had means, and we had to trust God to fill in the gaps. There were seasons of waiting — when we didn’t understand why doors seemed to close or why certain paths felt harder than others. But in hindsight, we can clearly see that every obstacle was preparing us for the next level of assignment.
We’ve also had to learn the delicate balance between serving people and protecting our own spiritual and emotional health. Ministry involves pouring into others continually, and if you’re not careful, you can pour from an empty cup. There were times we’ve felt weary, misunderstood, or even discouraged, but those moments always reminded us to lean not on our own strength, but on God’s.
One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is that obedience doesn’t always look like success — at least not in the world’s eyes. But when you remain faithful to what God has called you to do, He has a way of honoring that faithfulness in His perfect time.
Through every trial, God has proven Himself faithful. The road may not have been smooth, but it has been sacred — a journey that has refined us, deepened our compassion, and strengthened our resolve to serve with humility and grace.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our work centers on transformation — helping people encounter God in a way that changes their lives. As co-founders of Upon This Rock Ministries, we focus on meeting both the spiritual and practical needs of the community. Prophet Clint leads the School of Prophets: Next Generation, mentoring emerging leaders to hear God’s voice and walk boldly in their callings. His transparency and testimony, shared in his book A Wretch Like Me, have inspired many to believe that no life is beyond redemption.
Pastor Rosa’s ministry focuses on healing, purpose, and empowerment, especially among women. Should founded the “Whatever the Cost” Women’s Bible Study, that helped women grow in faith and confidence.
What sets us apart is our commitment to serve beyond the pulpit. Through outreach efforts like our food pantry, we strive to reflect Christ’s love in tangible ways. We’re most proud of the lives changed and the hope restored through this ministry — proof that when you remain faithful to God’s call, He will use your story to impact others.
Any big plans?
Our vision for the future is rooted in expansion — not just in size, but in impact. We believe God is calling us to broaden the reach of Upon This Rock Ministries and deepen our work in both discipleship and community outreach. One of our main goals is to secure a new church van, which will allow us to expand our outreach efforts and serve even more families through programs like our food pantry and youth initiatives.
Ultimately, our plan is simple: to keep saying “yes” to God’s assignments. Whether that means new locations, digital ministry, or greater community partnerships, we want to remain vessels through which lives are changed and God’s glory is revealed.
