Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah Parks.
Hi Rebekah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2020 I lost my job because of Covid and started working at a hair salon in downtown apex as a receptionist. I was so intrigued watching the stylists, everyone was so creative, they were working with people on such a personal one on one level, making people feel good about themselves and offering an ear to listen. In 2021 I decided to go back to school for hair. I fell in love with learning more and more about the science, the technique and the why and how of creating beautiful hair. In 2023 I opened up my own salon suite and within two weeks found out I was pregnant with my first daughter. After a complicated pregnancy and a 4 week maternity leave I dove straight back in building up my clientele and continuing to educate myself. Spring of 2025 I found out I was pregnant again only to miscarry a few weeks later. I channeled the saddness and grief I felt into creativity, pushing myself to better my craft, create more content and grow my business. Rebekah Rose hair exists not just to create beautiful hair, but to be a calm, peaceful place where you can laugh and feel heard.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge has been navigating big life changes and walking through grief in a client facing business. But it has also been the most rewarding. I chose to share about my miscarriage publicly when it happened because 40-50% of pregnancy’s end in miscarriage. That is wild! Almost half! It truly feels so helpless and lonely and yet when I shared my experience I had so many people reach out to me that they were either currently going through it or had been through it. That was the true beauty I found. The community of women holding each other up. And my desire for my business is to continue to do that.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My favorite thing to do in the hair world is blonding. I’m a blonde myself, and a lot of times when you’re blonde it becomes part of your identity. I pride myself in always moving forward, learning new techniques and most recently I’ve become extension certified
What’s next?
I’m currently planning out the next year to position myself to launch an assistant program and hire my first assistant! I will be teaching how to formulate color, color placements, cutting and financial literacy to set up each person for financial freedom and the ability to go into business for themself if they choose.
