Hi Reese, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Reese Studer is a licensed aesthetician with nearly eight years of experience in the beauty industry and the founder of a boutique waxing studio in Wilmington, North Carolina. After relocating to North Carolina almost four years ago, Reese discovered the Cargo District and immediately knew it was meant to be the home of her business. Her studio is located in the heart of the Cargo District courtyard, a space that perfectly reflects her creative vision and values.
Waxing has been Reese’s passion since graduating from aesthetician school. She views it as an intimate and transformative service, one that allows her to connect deeply with women while helping them feel confident, empowered, and comfortable in their own skin. Reese built her business with the intention of offering more than just a service; she wanted to create a magical, welcoming alternative to the traditional waxing experience. Seeing a gap in Wilmington’s beauty scene, she set out to create a studio unlike anything else in the area,one rooted in intention, connection, and self-confidence.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. Like most small business owners, my journey has been filled with learning curves, growing pains, and moments of uncertainty. Building a business from the ground up, especially as a solo service provider, comes with its own unique challenges, from wearing every hat to navigating slow seasons and burnout. There were times when I had to learn lessons the hard way, but each challenge helped shape not only my business, but who I am as an entrepreneur. Those moments taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of trusting the process, even when the road didn’t feel smooth.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work centers around creating a thoughtful, elevated waxing experience that goes far beyond hair removal. I specialize primarily in Brazilian waxing and intimate services, with a strong focus on technique, skin health, and client comfort. Waxing is what I’m best known for, but connection is at the heart of everything I do. I’ve built my business around making women feel safe, confident, and cared for during an incredibly personal service.
What I’m most proud of is the environment I’ve created. Moon Me Wax studio is intentionally designed to feel magical, calming, and welcoming, something very different from the traditional, clinical feel that many waxing spaces have. Clients don’t just come in for a service; they come in to relax, to be heard, and to leave feeling more confident than when they arrived.
What sets me apart is my approach. I take my time, I educate my clients, and I prioritize trust and consistency. As a solo waxer, every client interaction is personal, and I’m deeply involved in every detail of the experience. from the technique I use to the energy of the space. Building long-term relationships with my clients and watching their confidence grow over time is the most rewarding part of my work.
