Check Out Ricky Bell Jr.’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricky Bell Jr..

Hi Ricky, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Where did I begin? Now that’s a good question. So it all started several years ago when I was looking for something to aspire to me. Friends and peers said that I should try acting and have the right look and expressions for it. Initially, I thought they were crazy, to be honest, but one day I went out on a whim, and I saw a casting call for this television series where they were looking for extras. So I did that, and when I was on set, I saw the lead actors perform right in front of me, and that’s where I caught the acting bug. That’s when I became inspired to give it a shot. It all started with me wanting to take a chance, and that’s where my journey as an actor began through taking on roles in short films, feature films, commercials, theater plays, etc. I eventually started creating my productions.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The word “no” is a word that’s essentially burned into my soul. If I had a dime for every time I heard that word, I wouldn’t be rich, but my coin collection would be pretty high. One of the most aggravating parts of being an actor is the waiting game, where you are waiting to hear if you booked the job. That’s why they often tell us to audition for the role and forget about it immediately afterward. The long hours constantly on the road is another struggle, but I can tell you I’ve seen many sights throughout my journey! It has been a challenging road.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
As an actor, some of the roles that I mainly specialize in are the good guy roles, I’m versatile, but it’s those particular characters that I shine at on-screen and have the most passion for. On my own, I began creating and starring in my productions. Many of those productions have been feel-good projects and sci-fi/fantasy-themed projects. One of the biggest projects I created for myself was portraying a superhero named Jarmon. I recently did a feature film of it in the form of a superhero romantic comedy titled “Love Jarmon.” Jarmon’s powers include super strength, bulletproof skin, flight, and super speed, and he can fly throughout outer space without a space suit. Maybe I’m rambling now, but I’m proud of that particular creation of mine. I put a lot of time into it. My drive and determination have gotten me this far. I’m stubborn as a mule, as cliche as that may sound. Throughout my journey, I became huge on physical fitness, I now do personal training as well, and I love training my clients. As a side note, I love to tell jokes. I have one for you. What do you call a rich fish? A goldfish!

How would we have described you growing up if we knew you were growing up?
The person I was growing up is almost night and day compared to who I am now. As a kid, I was a lot more brooding. I didn’t like to look people in the eye or smile very much. You could call me shy. I was not the best communicator, especially when talking to pretty girls; talk about awkward! However, my creative passion was always there. Often in class, I would be reading books, writing short stories, and writing poetry. I also was on the wrestling team in high school. That’s where my determination and willpower came from.
