Check Out Roberta Viroli’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roberta Viroli.

Roberta Viroli

Roberta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began in 2007 when I relocated abroad with my husband, following his profession. Over the course of the past years, we have lived in China for 12 years, Germany for 3 years, and most recently, we moved to the United States in August.

During this time, I faced the profound loss of my father, who was an esteemed Artist. Despite our geographical distance, we shared a close and meaningful bond. His passing in 2015 was a deeply emotional experience for me.

The endeavor commenced in January 2023, and since then, I have been passionately dedicated to the development of this project. It has been an ongoing process, driven by my love for art and the desire to ensure that my father’s creative contributions of over four decades are rightfully recognized and cherished.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My father was a genuine and introverted artist; he often found himself disconnected from the complexities of the real world.

As his Guardian, I have recently made the decision to immerse myself in this world. However, being an outsider, I approach things with an objective perspective.

The art industry poses its own set of challenges, such as high fees and commissions demanded by art galleries. Additionally, the multitude of art calls and opportunities may not always be aligned with one’s true talent, making the path to recognition and fame unpredictable.

Navigating this enigmatic game can feel like a continuous cycle of steps forward and steps back, with no clear endpoint in sight. The journey to success in art is a complex and intricate dance, requiring resilience and determination amidst uncertainties.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Drawing from diverse backgrounds, I have found a profound love for leveraging the power of social media as a platform to introduce his artworks to a broader audience across Europe and the USA.

My primary objective is to find the perfect opportunity and individual who can truly appreciate and discover his immense talent.

Through social media, I have applied to several art calls, and one painting in particular (The Parliament) was selected and exhibited digitally at ARTBOX.PROJECT New York 2.0 last April 2023.

Recently, I had the opportunity to collaborate with a reputable firm known as Collettivo Digitale (www.collettivodigitale.it), which specializes in transforming traditional artworks into digital art. This partnership has been profoundly emotional, akin to witnessing his artworks come to life in a new digital realm.

I also really enjoy exhibitions in art galleries, where visitors can take a closer look at artworks. The chance to stand in front of a work of art gives the viewer a completely different experience. The colors, brushstrokes, and the chance to see a work in person is an incomparable experience. This November, two works will be on display at WonderArt in Milan.

The exhibition will be organized by Artemida Experience (https://www.artemida-experience.com), and I am sure it will be fabulous to see art in such an impressive venue as the MA-EC Gallery.

I also felt the need for an original website, and Luca Buriani developed www.robertoviroli.com, dedicated to the presentation and sale of my father’s original paintings, lithographs, and future prints. I admire Luca’s talent and sensitivity in creating such an incredible record of my father’s artistic life.

Through these resources and partnerships, I am empowered to reach a wider audience, promote his artworks effectively, and honor his artistic vision in traditional and innovative ways.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I find valuable resources that aid me in understanding and optimizing the intricacies of Instagram and its algorithm. Every post is an opportunity to connect with your community, and I use Instagram daily to post my father’s works.

Instagram is like our product, his works, and my creativity in displaying them.

With the stories, through the reels, I try to bring attention to submerged messages. There is a lot of symbology and intentionally omitted and uncovered details in my father’s works.

My favorite book is 2075 by Giacomo Sisto. It is a fictional political comedy set in a not-so-distant future, in which half of the world is dominated by a narrow-minded military oligarchy, the other by an innovative female ruling class, in a complicated plot of murders and battles and strange characters. For the moment being it is written in Italian; hopefully, there will be an English version soon.
