Check Out Sandra McLean Abney’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra McLean Abney.

Hi Sandra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started during COVID; scrolling on Youtube with my daughter and came across a candle video. I ordered a kit from Amazon. Made a few candles, gave them to family and friends and that was the birthing of Sapphire Candles

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say smooth…there has been a few challenges along the way.
Being brand new in the small business world , is different.
Completing paperwork for EIN, insurance, website, trial and error when it comes to wax, fragrance, vessels, and wicks.
Branding and marketing

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
For the last 17 years I have been a certified medical assistant. I have work in family practice and cardiology. For the last 5 years I have also a small business owner of Sapphire Candles.
I am not proud of being ME! You can have a passion for for than one career and juggle both! Within my business I say its also part of my mission. I love being around people and watching their faces light up as the smell a fragrance that reminds them of a special family member or a memory from their childhood. Sapphire Candles slogan is LIght Your Inner Vision and that; is what I try to capture with every fragrance note.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Do your research, find another candle business and ask if you can job shadow. Ask questions, ask questions, ask questions. Knowledge is power
