Check Out Tiffany Oset’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Oset.

Hi Tiffany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstories.
I am originally from Fayetteville/ Ft Bragg, North Carolina, where I was born and raised. Working at Kohl’s Beauty counter in 2005 sparked an interest in becoming an Esthetician. After having fun with makeup artistry, I started to look for Esthetician schools in the area. Fayetteville did not offer the program then, so I became a student at Central Carolina Community College in Sanford, North Carolina, in 2008, where I learned how to do facials, waxing, microdermabrasion, and more. I graduated in May 2009 and became licensed in July 2009. After graduating, I landed a job in a Medical Spa in Fayetteville, NC. I’ve also worked in several salons and then decided to register my business in 2020. Unfortunately, due to Covid 19, my business had to shut down. In 2023, I have rebranded myself and my business name and will re-open as Make U Glow Esthetics in the Sola Salon Studios in Apex, North Carolina. I am excited to re-open and proud to be a Licensed Esthetician for 14 years.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a challenging sailing road. My dream was to always be in business for myself, and when I first opened in 2020, Covid-19 ruined everything, and I took a loss. Now I can re-open this year, 2023. I’ve also had two different maternity leaves along the way. I gave birth to my daughter Jaselle in 2018 and Twin boys Kamilo and Karmelo in 2019. Now I am a Proud single mom, and I desire to be successful for my children.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in facials, waxing, and natural makeup artistry. I am proud of all my education, including a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2021. I was a Social Worker for two years. I worked as a School Social Worker and Foster Care Social Worker for Cumberland County. My heart and passion for helping others and the beauty industry have always been my first love. What sets me apart from others is being a first-generation Afro-Latina from my family to obtain a Bachelor’s degree and open a business. I am proud to be Cuban American, pave the way for my family, and build an empire.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
My view on taking risks is to do it. Nothing will fall in your lap, and you can not live in fear! Living in fear is going to hold you back in life. The biggest risk I took was leaving everything I knew in Fayetteville, NC, and moving to a new city in my home state. I now live in Cary, North Carolina, and it was my best decision ever. I will never look back, and I am happier now.
