Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We are a multi-member LLC out of North Carolina, mainly the 252. TropHeavy Corporations is a record label. We all have a love for music, and making music people love is our goal. Most of us play dual roles; we put in work so that the world can hear our music, and we make music as well. We signed ourselves, lol. Gregory Staton, the CEO of the label, has been doing music since the age of 15 and grew to love music watching his cousin South. His daughter is his inspiration.
Levius Whitfield is the Co-Founder of the label, and he has a strong love for music as music is his way of coping with life. His children are also his inspiration. Traci Coppage is the manager, and she has a strong love for music. She believes in her team at the label. Her goal is for her team to win. Her inspiration is her kids, as she would like to show them the way to financial freedom. Timothy Winstead, is the Engineer for the label. His love for music was inspired by his family, who are musicians in their family.
His inspiration is his daughter. Jakai Britton is the head of security for the label, and his reason for wanting to be a part of the label came from being close to the Co-Founder and the In House Producer. He decided that he would be the man behind the camera as well. Jarron Swain is the in-house producer, and his brotherhood is the reason that he decided to join TropHeavy Corporation. He also has a strong voice and is a great asset to the label.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have definitely been some struggles with starting the label and getting everyone on the same page.
The struggles consist of promotion and financial challenges. We came up with a plan, and we made sure to invest in ourselves. The biggest downfall we have had was watching the studio burn down. We lost it all, but we are back to winning. We all have different stories, but the love and commitment are mutual.
We are locked in this, and the plan is to win. Winning means being successful as a team and leaving our children and family with financial freedom.

We are a team of strong-minded individuals who came up with a big plan, and now we are working hard to execute the vision. We provide a safe, comfortable place for people to record music. We also provide beats, and we do features. We are a brand-new record label out of the 252 area in North Carolina. We are a very different group of artists. The type of music we provide gives you 90s and 2000s vibes at times, but it’s also music that people would love to hear today. We get a lot of good feedback.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Sacrificing time with family and having balance in our daily lives is definitely one of the biggest challenges that we face daily. We take a risk because we know this will set our kids and families up for success and break generational curses. Sometimes, we have to sacrifice things we don’t want to give up because we are looking for something bigger.
It’s not all about finances, but finances play a main role. Nothing was given to any of us. We’ve all had to work hard for this. We are family. We love one another, and we stick together. We are doing this to show our kids that they can create their own success and they can have financial independence. We are also teaching others that with a vision and a plan, you can be successful as long as you have determination. You can create a big master plan and follow through with it.
When you see people having successful businesses with just one person, imagine the things that you can do if you stick together and have a strong team. We are saying this to encourage anyone who’s building a business or just focused on entrepreneurship within itself to build a team of supportive people. If you guys can figure it out… DREAM BIG!
