Check Out Tyran Wayne’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyran Wayne.

Hi Tyran, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Yes, I started my photography /videography business in college. I brought a camera because I was in an internship where I had to make marketing videos for a fitness gym. This turned into regular contract work for me; which is what started my love for photography / videography and entrepreneurship! I graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a degree in journalism & mass communications minor in professional theatre. From here, I started working my first real job out of college. I was going door to door selling spectrum cable, phone and internet. Needless to say, this was not my passion and I quickly learned to go after what I want in life. I moved back home to Durham, NC from Greensboro, NC and started working on my business heavy. While I was in school and recently after school, I felt so much motivation to succeed in entrepreneurship. I started going to concerts, walking into businesses and promoting myself. This allowed me to meet so many people that need my help and gift. The gift of making memories, lasting moments and stories come to life with content creation. Over the past couple of years, I have definitely had my ups and downs in entrepreneurship. It is not all roses and daisies, it is hard work that is frustrating, frightening, rewarding and so much more. What is a testimony without a test! I keep learning that it is not about the destination, it is all about the journey. Thus, I am so grateful that I have been in business officially for 3 years but I got my EIN in 2018 and I count this as the time I became serious! So I would say I’ve been in business for a little more than a few years and I am so excited to continue this journey. I have to admit I get imposter syndrome a lot and that can cause me to slack sometimes in my business; but again, its all about the JOURNEY!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not always been a smooth journey but whats a testimony without a test. This is the way I see it and you just have to keep going, no matter what. At the end of the day; thats what many entrepreneurs do daily. Figure it out! We’re always having to figure it out. Whether buying new equipment because your old equipment isn’t the “newest in the game”, constantly working to please all your clients and trust me “you can not please everyone”, or constantly figuring out what to post since we live in a social media world now. We are constantly figuring out everything and at times, I want to complain but I have to remember sometimes that this is literally what I prayed to god for! To have a business, it doesn’t matter if its small, medium or large. Its your business/baby and you have to just figure it out.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a content creator, photographer, videographer, storyteller, filmmaker and so much more. I always like to say I don’t want to put myself in a box. I work with businesses, entrepreneurs and regular people who need lasting memories whether it be for a birthday, prom, event or wedding. I would say i’m known for being a creative! I am most proud of the fact that I have traveled to different cities and countries over my journey which is practically still getting started! I believe the service that I provide and how I cater to my clients is what sets me apart from anyone in the same field. I am also proud that I am good at both photography and videography; sometimes you only see a person that is good at one or the other but I am proud that I can do both!

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Yes, again it’s about the journey! Don’t get caught up in what camera to buy, having the best equipment or trying to be the best photographer / videographer in the city. Just focus on you and your skillset and how you are going to develop it. There are so many ways to be successful with photography / videography and that is one thing that I love the most about it. The possibilities are endless and everyone always needs a good photographer / videographer.
