Check Out Victoria Macdonald’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Macdonald. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Raleigh Biscuit Company has an interesting backstory. While helping her mother conquer cancer in September of 2020, Victoria got a job a few days a week beer-tending at a local grocery store in Clayton, NC.

Concerned for the sobriety of her guests, she started bringing test batches of biscuits in for them to try while enjoying their craft beverages. After her confidence increased, Victoria baked for her first networking event. Approximately two hours before the event, she was notified it was canceled due to the host coming in contact with Covid.

Instead of accepting the unfortunate news, Victoria found another networking gathering, and meeting Domenic Battistella there led her straight to her first farmers market relationship. Through this relationship with Western Wake Farmers Market, Victoria has built many relationships with local vendors, musicians, and artists. Growing these relationships has become the passion behind RBC.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The first year is nothing but struggles and challenges, but I live for all of these moments as a new business owner. I believe that all challenges lead you towards your success. We all know nothing is easy, but learning from these situations makes future challenges easier.

I would say opening during Covid could have been a struggle, but adapting to this new world as a new business owner makes it a little easier. I actually think it made me a new style of business owner. One that doesn’t get too caught up in the packaging is a great example.

If my resources run dry, I try something new and my consumers are okay with it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Raleigh Biscuit Company is going to be Raleigh’s next tourist location! Yes, we sell biscuits, jams, and coming soon Biscammiches, but we are more than just biscuits. We are an advocate of all things North Carolina. We take pride in NC’s agriculture mostly but we are also large supporters of NC’s musicians, artists, and small businesses.

We are excited for our new partnership with local creative artists that design our postcards that come with our biscuit 2packs. Musician collaborations are the goal for 2022. We at RBC are here to change the game of restaurant past. Valuing our employees comes first, then everything NC.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Although I have been in the restaurant business for over 20 years, I was also a casino dealer for nine years! I wouldn’t change that for the world. It helped me with math, being more aware security-wise, and also how to relate to all types of people. Because of that job, I am who I am today, extremely personable/relatable and outgoing.

Poker was by far my favorite game to deal. During my time dealing poker is when I started baking my first cakes. I also trained a blackjack dealer who then became my first boss as a pastry chef. So many doors opened because of this career.
