Check Out Whitney Chase’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Chase.

Whitney Chase

Hi Whitney, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I was originally an ICU nurse when my husband and I got engaged. I quickly fell in love with weddings and knew that I wanted to serve couples on such a joyful day in their lives while capturing their memories. I planned to only photograph a couple weddings a year on the side, but God had other plans! The business quickly grew, and I ended up quitting nursing and going full-time within a couple of months of starting the business. My husband, Colby, then joined me to make our business a photography and videography wedding team, and the rest is history!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
On the business side of things, it has been fairly smooth, with a lot of hard work and hours to stay on that road. I would say as a photographer (or any creative career) one of the biggest struggles is the comparison trap and finding the healthy balance of always wanting to improve but also being content with your current work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My husband and I are a photography/videography team specializing in weddings. We are most known for that team aspect since it is rare to see a husband-and-wife photography AND videography team, but we are also known for giving an incredible experience on top of the beautiful products. Having that double date atmosphere, prioritizing our couple’s wishes/vision for their day, and having a cohesive photo gallery + wedding film is a rare, beautiful experience. We truly want to serve our couples and for each gallery/wedding film to be unique to them.

I’m probably most proud of our growth (business-wise and creatively). We’ve only been in business for a little under 2 years, so to see how fast we grew not only with bookings but also in our artistry from then to now is very surreal. We are always striving to improve our couple’s experience with us as well as improve our skills, and it definitely shows.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I’m going to sound like a broken record but serving our couple means the world to us. Prior to the wedding day, we really try to relieve as much stress as possible. On the wedding day, we want to be that bright light for them and bring a positive energy while helping them to stay present throughout the day. We try to set out any fires before they even know it’s there and keep the energy lively while taking portraits with their loved ones so it doesn’t feel like a chore. The way we see it is if they don’t enjoy taking the portraits in the moment, then those portraits are not going to serve as the joyful memory they deserve.
