Today we’d like to introduce you to Ahmauni Montgomery.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in North Carolina by my great aunt who I call my mother. I’m very blessed to have had her raise me and now she can see the great life choices I’m making and building.
I’ve always had a passion for beauty and healthcare. Ever since I was a little girl, I was known to always have my hair done and the love I had for makeup. I was in 8th grade popping on lashes during my car ride to school.
I became a pro! This was during a time when a lot of people didn’t know how to apply lashes. As years went by, that passion turned into content for social media back when I didn’t know exactly what content was and there was no title for it.
I graduated in 2017 from a private school with a degree in Healthcare but after a couple of years and the pandemic hitting, I realized working in healthcare was no longer a passion of mine. I just now have a really big soft spot for helping those in need. I’m currently back in school for Mass Communications with a concentration in Broadcast Media at North Carolina Central University.
I have a cosmetics brand called All Things Alazae where we have faux mink lashes and handmade lip glosses; A YouTube channel with my boyfriend called A&B TV; another YouTube channel catering to hair reviews and beauty called Ahmauni Alazae; I work in a corporate setting and of course my other social media platforms.
I’m always super busy but it’s very much worth it!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, definitely not.
Some struggles I faced were and still are – staying consistent, being overwhelmed balancing so many things at once, second-guessing myself if I’m making the right choices and so much more.
Being an entrepreneur, working a 9-5, spending time with family, my Shih Tzu, and still taking care of my own mind are all blessings but can get very much overwhelming. I’m learning how to find a balance between all of them so everything gets time.
We’ve been impressed with All Things Alazae, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
All Things Alazae, I’m very proud of my brand being created to cater to all different styles of beauty. Handmade lip glosses and faux mink lashes are a go-to staple!
What are your plans for the future?
I’m looking forward to growth and actually very excited about where my brand and content will take me within the next years or so! I’m also creating fashion related content on my Instagram and super excited about this journey! I have big plans for future businesses I’m going to create. Also, I have an amazing boyfriend and my family who supports me and what I want to accomplish in my life. My support system overall is the best!
