Today we’d like to introduce you to Anabel Haviza
Hi Anabel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My mom says that as a child I had endless energy and never ending stamina for more. I was always racing to accomplish the next task, usually looking for the next challenge. She says I wanted to complete and achieve goals that weren’t age appropriate, so naturally it would make sense that I was ready to buy my first home at 23. In searching for a new home, I stumbled into a new construction neighborhood and I got a two for one. I went under contract on a new home, and hired as a new home sales consultant.
During my 4 year tenure as a new home sales consultant, I earned every award available…and then I got bored and was ready for the next challenge. I quickly transitioned to becoming a Realtor and I’ve been inspired & challenged for the last 9 years. I’m licensed in both Indiana and North Carolina and have successfully represented large scale hedge funds, people who are just starting to build their real estate portfolio, and everyday people who are on their journey to achieve their next challenge. It sometimes looks like a job relocation, a larger home for newlyweds, those welcoming their first child, or even those downsizing. I love most being a small piece of my client’s next chapter; it’s truly an honor being invited to assist each of them as they write the next chapter in their story of life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This question made me laugh. The one thing that is guaranteed in real estate is that everyday will be different, with a new set of problems to fix. I consider myself quite competitive, strategic, and committed to following through at the highest level. I consider these to be great traits that a client wants in their agent. It leads to an agent who’s committed to your goals, and is relentless in representing you…and that’s who I am.
In my younger years I was a workaholic, and confused my identity of who I am based on what I did (or didn’t) achieve. As a natural high achiever this was a fast track to feeling burnt out. I couldn’t accept achieving less than the prior year, which led to higher and higher stakes.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a full service realtor who specializes in the Raleigh/Durham area. I like working with Sellers, but I got my start as a buyer’s agent and I enjoy working in all of the submarket cities in and around Raleigh. I still maintain my real estate business in Indiana as well, where I mostly work with past clients and investors.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
During Covid when the world got quieter and it was acceptable to slow down and take my foot off the gas workwise…I realized how empty my life was outside of the disciplines that I had developed as my daily habits. (Work, exercise & yard work.)
I grew up in NC, and during Covid I decided to get back closer to my family. I love spending time with my family and nephew. My mom is an amazing cook, and she usually entices us home to Hillsborough a few times a month for some home cooking.
I also love to travel and meet different people. I’ve always been into exercise, formally my goal was to run a half marathon in all 50 states, but after completing 8 my knees couldn’t take the high impact. I have a lot of hobbies and enjoy getting lost in learning something new— right now I’m really into woodworking and am building my own nightstands. Next I’m going to build built ins in my home office. I am a learner at heart, I geek out on the process and the why/how of how something works. I have learned to balance work & fun. I’m certainly grateful for finding that balance in life. 🙂
