Community Highlights: Meet Angela Floyd of Southern Eats by Angie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Floyd.

Hi Angela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved the act of cooking and enjoy watching others’ reactions as they devour the meals that I’ve prepared.

I grew up on country cooking, cookouts, family reunions, and fish fry. My parents cooked huge meals and I pride myself on the fact that I took after them. Southern Eats by Angie was created in 2021 when I transformed a hobby into a business serving soul food with southern hospitality.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We have had our share of high and low days. Some of the struggles have been spending expenses versus the profit that we bring in.

It has also been difficult to find our target audience due to the lack of support in the area in which we serve. We continue to pride ourselves on providing quality eats at an affordable and appropriate price.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Southern Eats by Angie, LLC?
We’re a family-owned business of cooks and innovators who had a dream: We wanted to create a company that would satisfy all with soul food and southern hospitality.

Since 2021, we’ve delighted our customers with delicious food and quality service by transforming our hobby into a business. We pride ourselves on pleasing our customers. Whether you’re having a wedding, hosting a dinner party, or simply too busy to cook, we’ll make food that looks and tastes amazing.

We specialize in soul food, Angie’s baked mac & cheese, pineapple lemonade, banana pudding, and more tasty foods.

We believe that hospitality is equally important as the quality of our products.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was outgoing, but still shy around some at the same time. I enjoyed being outside playing basketball and kickball with my older siblings.

I enjoyed sleepovers at my grandma’s and favorite aunt’s house on the weekends. I’ve always done well in school and maintained good grades. I’m the youngest of 4, so I had a great relationship with my parents and they always expected so much out of me.

In my teens and younger years, we attended church a lot and so even as a young lady my faith in God has always been grounded. In my younger days, I’ve always enjoyed helping people and sowing good seeds into people’s lives.
