Community Highlights: Meet Anna Sullivan of Littlefoot Matcha

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Sullivan.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been drinking matcha since 2016 and never truly loved it. I was at a cafe in Italy in 2023 and had a life changing matcha latte. After that I was hooked on finding the best matcha. I started learning more about matcha, making it at home, and got all of my friends hooked. Littlefoot Matcha was born in March 2025. I started to sell matcha online and with the matcha shortage I quickly had to work with multiple farms and selling many cultivars. We started doing pop ups and have really been working to grow our foot print locally in NC. We just opened up a new spot in Raleigh at 234 Fayetteville St on Mondays & Tuesdays from 9am – 2pm.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The global matcha shortage has really dictated what we are doing. It’s very hard to source matcha right now and we are hoping to be fully restocked in June of this year when they reharvest in Japan.

We’ve been impressed with Littlefoot Matcha, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We sell ceremonial grade matcha directly from Japan. We work with tea farms to source blends and single origin cultivars. We also host pop ups shops all over the East Coast and teach workshops. A portion of our sales goes to support our non-profit partner, Glenwood Together.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Just start! So many people get hung up on the details or honestly just being scared to fail. Just go for it and see what happens. Even if you fail you will learn so much.
