Today we’d like to introduce you to Ayvee Lavender.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Ayvee Lavender. I am a family nurse practitioner all the way from Dallas, TX. My family and I relocated to the Raleigh area in the fall of 2021. While I deeply miss Texas, I was very excited to start a new chapter and wanted to use this time to create a truly patient-centered practice.
My opinion is that 15-30 minutes is not enough time to connect with someone, know their history, explore their goals, and really help them to the best of my ability.
I thought now more than ever, we need healthcare providers who can take the time to listen closely to the small details, foster an open and trusting relationship, and be team players when it comes to your health and wellness goals.
I provide in-home and telemedicine services and am open to supporting parents’ choices, and the use of alternative treatments that can complement traditional medicine.
I am a Christian first and foremost, a mother, and a wife. I would love to meet you!
When I am not working, I love spending time outdoors, exploring new restaurants, traveling near and far, and doing CrossFit workouts. Looking for a new gym box to call home!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The obstacles I have faced are numerous. Starting a business is hard. Moving across state lines in the middle of the COVID era, having no connections, and having two young children while trying to start a business are even harder. It has been a challenging experience for me to venture out on a different path.
Juggling work outside of the home is a challenge with young children at home too. I struggle with guilt about where to spend my time, and when the kids are this small, it is hard some days to leave. I hope that this practice model allows for the best of both worlds, more time with my children, and more time with my patients!
That being said, finding childcare in this area is difficult. I was not prepared for the waitlists in early childhood care. I praise the Lord for the nanny I connected with early after my move here. She has been a huge help and it helps me rest easy knowing my kids are being loved on so well while I pour into my new community.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about At Home Family Care?
At Home, Family Care is a primary care and family care service that is provided to you in your home. As a primary care provider, I perform wellness visits, and physicals, order lab testing, and treat acute illnesses as well.
My practice is different than most traditional doctor’s offices. It is set up in a membership fashion, using a model called Direct Primary Care (DPC). DPC practices do not take insurance and this allows your care to be truly individualized without outside payors directing what care you can/can’t receive.
I am proud to offer this service in the Raleigh area, and I welcome families seeking to be in charge and involved with their health. I keep my member base small, which allows me more time with you to discuss your treatment plans, answer concerns, research your questions, and give you the time that you deserve!
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Members can sign up after scheduling a free Q&A session with me. This allows us to meet each other, discuss what your goals and concerns are regarding your health, and ensure that this type of membership model is right for you.
I would love to have a physical space one day for my members to come to have their visits. If you know of a medical office for sale, a space that is open to sharing a space a few days a week, or a great location for a consultation room, please share with me! I know I’ll find one when the time is right.
