Community Highlights: Meet Catalina Shaw of Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Paracle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catalina Shaw. 

Hi Catalina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My parents brought me to the United States when I was 6 years old in hopes of finding a better life. We moved here from Medellin Colombia and though I love my roots and my culture… I’ll forever be grateful for their sacrifices because I couldn’t imagine any other place than the US to be my home. As I started to get older, I never quite knew what I wanted to do, I always came up with something different… I graduated from Sanderson High School in Raleigh NC and just dove straight into the workforce. I worked at Angus Barn for 7 years where I met the love of my life and 2 years later, we got married. One day my dad stepped in and said “you need to do something you will become very successful with… You need to do real estate” and less than a month later I was enrolled to take the course and get my license. My first transaction in real estate was our very own purchase of our home. It took several firms to find the right fit but ultimately, and at the perfect time, I joined Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Paracle. Their support and leadership have helped me become very successful in my business. I became a mom of the most perfect little girl who I now have to be a role model for and I want her to know that women can be the best partners, amazing loving moms, successful empowered leaders. or all three at the same time. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
At the beginning of my career, I had clients deny me of opportunities because I didn’t have enough experience or I was too young but I’ve been blessed with many more who have trusted me and allowed me to help them make the most important purchase of the lives. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a licensed real estate advisor with Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Paracle servicing the Triangle area in North Carolina. I help buyers and sellers with their transactions. Being real estate advisor, I have the opportunity to connect with so many people and learn their stories… for some, I am helping them buy their 10th investment property… for others, I am helping them buy their first home, and then I have my sellers who trust me to sell their home so they can take their next step in life. Everything I do is with the purpose of leaving a positive footprint behind. I like to provide my clients with concierge-level services and exceed their expectations. Communication is key in any aspect of life but I make it a priority in my business… It’s so important for me to take the time to listen to my clients’ expectations, needs, and wants. In return, I share my knowledge and expertise and set goals I will help them accomplish. Every single client that I have worked with has taught me something along the way and I love that I get to use that in my life… whether it’s a food recipe, life advice, overcoming obstacles, or just a smile that brightens your day. I am so proud to be able to provide my clients with endless resources to get their deals closed and ultimately hand them the keys to their homes.
