Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Cardin.
Hi Eric, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well it started with my grandad who owned BullCity Barber College, Which was rich in Durham Black WallStreet and the development of the Durham community until the mid 70’s. Then my mom who owned her own salons Lakewood Hair Quarters for over 40 years. Then me graduating from Hillside High 2003 and then 4 days later I proceeded to attend Harris Barber College. After graduating I started working at J&S barbershop for 13 years until I decided to expand my entrepreneurial spirit and open my own barbershop. May 29th 2016 I decided to have my grand opening of GroomRoom919. With building and growing a trustworthy and solid barbering staff, Even surviving through the pandemic I’m lucky to continue doing what I love and thriving a for now over a decade
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest struggle was during the early stages of the pandemic. With our profession we come across alot of people and germs. Our main priority is sanitation and making our clients satisfied and safe. So during those unknown times it was hard. Not to mention having to shut down for 3 months
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about GroomRoom919 ?

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
You have to believe in yourself and know that your worth ethic is dedicated to the art and grind before you take any risk. Accomplishing any dream doesn’t come easy. So taking calculated risk is necessary for growth.
