Hi Georgina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up in Sierra Leone, West Africa, I always had a passion for creating unique things. In my hometown, creativity was nurtured from as early as 7th grade, which fueled my love for crafting and design. This passion eventually led to the creation of SassyDameDesigns.
The idea for SassyDameDesigns sparked while planning my son’s birthday party. I struggled to find everything I needed in one place, so I decided to create the decorations, custom bags, and party favors myself. This experience inspired me to explore the world of custom designs further. Although we had an Etsy store, it wasn’t very successful at first. However, after my son’s party, something clicked, and SassyDameDesigns was born.
Our business quickly gained traction, and soon we were selling on Etsy, Amazon, Walmart, and our own website. Despite our success, we noticed a gap in North Carolina: there was no dedicated space for creators to shop, craft, and purchase items in bulk without relying on large companies with long lead times. To fill this void, we opened a location in Raleigh.
Our Raleigh space allows people to customize their own products, from hats and shirts to signs, tumblers, bags, jewelry, business cards, and more. We also provide resources for aspiring entrepreneurs to start their own businesses without the need for expensive machinery. They can come in and use our equipment, learning the ropes of the trade in a supportive environment. Additionally, we host events like paint-and-sip nights and tumbler customization workshops, creating a vibrant community of creators.
Beyond individual customizations, we also cater to bulk orders for large companies, providing branded items such as shirts, tablecloths, and more. Our competitive pricing keeps customers coming back, as we offer affordable solutions without compromising on quality. We also supply DTF prints and UV DTF stickers, empowering individuals to start their own brands with ease.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, especially as a small business. Most of what we do is managed by our team, and we often work late nights to ensure everything is ready for big events, marketing efforts, and getting people to visit our physical store. While we are well-known online, spreading the word locally has been challenging. Owning a physical store requires a lot of devotion, dedication, and sacrifices to build a solid foundation. One of the main struggles has been raising awareness about our physical location, which has only been open for about nine months.
We’ve been impressed with SassyDameDesigns, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At SassyDameDesigns, we are passionate about customization. From shirts and hats to banners, jewelry, cups, ornaments, and even balls—if it can be customized, we do it. We cater to both small and large quantities, ensuring everyone can get exactly what they need.

We specialize in creating personalized products tailored to our customers’ desires. Whether it’s a unique gift, a branded item for a business, or decorations for an event, we bring your ideas to life with precision and creativity.

We are incredibly proud of our ability to cater to a wide audience, from individuals looking for a small custom item to large companies needing bulk orders. We offer customization at affordable prices, with items starting as low as $20. Our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction has made us a go-to destination for personalized products.

Our journey hasn’t been without its challenges, especially in spreading awareness about our physical store. However, the support from family, particularly my mom and husband, has been invaluable. Their financial, spiritual, and physical support has helped us navigate the ups and downs of running a small business.

Additionally, our faith in God has been a guiding force, keeping us going through the toughest times. The business is owned by me and my supportive husband, and together, our belief in God and the strength of our family have been the foundation of our success.
