Community Highlights: Meet Iuliia Slobodian of Triangle Repairs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Iuliia Slobodian.

Hi Iuliia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers. 
My husband and I had to move to the USA. We fled the war and arrests for opposing the war. In my country, my job was related to digital marketing and Maksim, my husband was doing calculations in the furniture industry. He was engaged in “cutting” projects for the production of kitchens, searched for and ordered materials, and counted, counted, counted a lot… He’s very good at it. In addition, we built our house for ten years and learned a lot during this time and did a lot with our own hands. We studied building codes, loads, and environmental regulations. We did the flooring ourselves, painting the whole house inside and out, all the plumbing work, tiling the wall behind the fireplace, building the barn and much more. All this gave us the skills and experience that led us to work in repairs in the Triangle.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When we arrived as refugees, we did not have a work permit, but we could open a company and earn a living from this. Of course, it is very difficult to open a company in another country. we are learning the language and dealing with documents. We study how the medical system, tax, and legal system work. We have to study what Americans know almost from birth. I have to look for information about what I need to do, who to contact, how to fill out some kind of document. And, of course, translate. But when you have to feed your family and pay bills, then you have to do your best. We have three children. Our youngest child is adopted, and his life path cannot be called easy. He has many health problems and is hard of hearing. And all this imposes its own difficulties. We have to spend a lot of time studying the education system in the United States, looking for options for his education here and helping him. We even have to teach everyone English Sign Language besides English. And, of course, household chores.

The most difficult thing in our situation is the lack of time and energy for everything at once) But yes, we can definitely say that so far our journey has been going pretty smoothly!

When we arrived, the American community in North Carolina gave us a warm welcome. In the center for immigrants, we were offered various assistance, we were able to learn English for free, the social worker at the school helped us with all the documents. And people met us with kindness, sympathized with us, and offered help. We appreciate what a highly developed and highly cultured society is around, and we want to benefit it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Triangle Repairs LLC?
We do repairs, carpentry and painting work in houses and office spaces. This includes minor repairs and larger projects. For example, we do a complete renovation of the kitchen, or repairing the deck, pier and dock restoration. Thanks to Maksim’s skills in calculations and his love for wood, we take on the most complex projects of cabinets, shelves, wardrobes, and wooden decor. In addition, we paint houses inside and out; we can change the flooring, paint and restore yachts, and much more! We can do a really big list of works. And this is our peculiarity; we are gathering a team of specialists who can do the work comprehensively on a turnkey basis. From the project and the purchase of materials to the actual work and garbage disposal. This greatly simplifies the life of our customers. They do not need to look for several contractors, compare services, make decisions. They trust us, and we help them realize their project in the best possible way.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
We have not talked about our projects on the ocean yet. For example, we did a big project to restore an old yacht. This is a very interesting work that gave us a lot of pleasure. Also, our customers do not yet know about all the programs and projects that we are preparing for them! For example, we can now offer designer services and 3D visualization of projects.

For the autumn-winter season, we are preparing proposals for the production and installation of various outdoor holiday decorations. We really enjoy this kind of creative work!

We also want to offer office services for repair, painting, building storage systems during the holidays. While employees are resting, we can work without disturbing anyone and update workspaces!

And we think in the direction of the development of kitchen production. We love the quality and look of American kitchens. But we want to offer the client a choice: the opportunity to install a European kitchen or remake his kitchen into a European one.

We have a lot of ideas in our heads. All this needs to be tested and see what people like more. What they want to see in their homes and offices. Fashion is changing, and we want not only to keep up with it but also create offer solutions that may become fashionable in the future!

We greatly appreciate the opportunity to live and work safely in North Carolina and raise our children here. And we want to contribute to the local economy, to help the local community as well as they helped us! And we want to repay this society and this country with everything we can.
