Community Highlights: Meet Jaime Lara of Jimbo’s Fresh Fruit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaime Lara. 

Hi Jaime, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
As long as I can remember I have always loved fruits, and coming from a Mexican culture fruit is a big part of our lives. From having fruit at home to planning trips to Mexico based on it being fruit season it’s safe to say I was a fruit enthusiast. We added Tajin Seasoning and lime to our fruits and my friends that weren’t used to that flavor were in pure bliss once they tried it. I’ve always loved sharing new foods with people and when it came to fruit there wasn’t anywhere around with fresh fruit so I decided to do it myself! With the help of Family and Friends, I decided to do my first pop-up in 2020 with two tables and a 10×10 tent. Word got around fast and before I knew it places were asking me to come set up at their locations, as a small business I was super excited to help other businesses and brands around me! 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No struggles but more of just limitations, I run a Tree Service Company as my main source of income so only being able to do fruit on the weekends hasn’t allowed me to grow as much as I’d like to as a business. Saving money to buy a trailer and fix it up is the next move! Finding a balance between everything is the hard part but with time it’ll all work out! 

We’ve been impressed with Jimbo’s Fresh Fruit, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We set up at various locations and we slice up Fresh Fruit! Watermelon, Mango, Pineapple, Cantaloupe, Jicama, Papaya, and Cucumber, we offer Tajin Seasoning, Chamoy Drizzle, and Freshly Squeezed Lime onto or on the side if you’d like! My favorite thing about having this brand is that Fresh Fruit is simply a metaphor for life! When you bite into that fresh fruit, you’re in instant bliss and you forget about the world around you for a minute and you’re brought into the moment. Living life is all about being in the moment and appreciating the small things, like fruit. Being able to share my love for fruit and build a business and a community that is based around such a delicious and healthy part of life is a win-win for me and my customers! 

What makes you happy?
What makes me the happiest is that I get to spread the euphoria of biting into fresh fruit to people and having amazing customers that support me endlessly. When I get a chance in the mornings, I like to post a picture of fruit saying “Today is going to be a great day, Drink Water, Eat Fruit.” I post that so that people can read it and have it in their head to almost guide them to having a better day, doesn’t have to be a good day but maybe a better day than they’ve been having. When I have people tell me that they look forward to seeing that post or when they post that same caption with their own picture of fruit or water it makes me ecstatic that it’s helping at least one person.
