Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Merritt.

Kyle Merritt

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I graduated high school, I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do. I spent some time figuring things out, working at multiple restaurants along the way. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the hospitality industry.

From 18 to 23, I worked my way up—starting as a server and eventually becoming a bartender. I had the opportunity to work in different restaurant settings, which gave me a broad perspective and deeper appreciation for the business. That’s also where I discovered my passion for craft cocktails and the unique connection you can build with people from behind the bar. Being a bartender isn’t just about making drinks; it’s about creating experiences and meaningful moments.

Later, I transitioned from the restaurant and bar business into real estate. I worked hard, built a successful career as a real estate agent, and eventually found myself in a position to launch my own business. When the perfect space became available, everything came together—and here we are.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, the process has been pretty smooth. I’ve learned that understanding your market and the community you’re serving is essential to building a successful business. Over the past few years, I spent countless hours visiting other establishments—not just as a guest, but as a student of the craft. I drew inspiration from each experience, collecting ideas and fine-tuning my vision for what I wanted in a bar. Those moments shaped everything—the atmosphere, the menu, and the overall experience I hoped to create.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Church Spirits and Cocktails, our goal is to serve every guest and make their experience truly memorable. Through the culture we instill in our team and the environment we’ve created, we want to offer a space that feels warm and welcoming to everyone—a true neighborhood bar. A place where you can always find something you enjoy, whether it’s an innovative cocktail or a friendly conversation.

Our bar has a clean, semi-modern vibe, designed to focus on what matters most—good drinks and great company. No distractions, just a space where conversations flow as easily as the cocktails. We take pride in crafting creative, modern drinks while honoring the timeless appeal of the classics. Alongside our cocktails, we offer a curated selection of beer and wine for those who prefer something different.

What truly sets us apart is our hospitality. Service is about more than just getting something from point A to point B. For us, it’s about connection. We want to get to know you. We want to remember your name and your drink when you walk through the door again.

But what we’re most proud of is the culture we’ve built. Our staff is lively and welcoming, always ready to make your experience fun and memorable. Our drinks are creative and approachable. And our atmosphere is cozy—a place where you can unwind, laugh, and feel right at home.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I may not know exactly where the bar industry will go in the next 5 to 10 years, but I’m excited for what the future holds. I believe there will always be a place for bars that focus on genuine connection, great hospitality, and creative cocktails. We’ve worked hard to build something timeless—a space where people feel welcome and at home. I’m confident that with the culture we’ve created and our commitment to adapting and growing, we’ll continue serving our community for many years to come.
