Today we’d like to introduce you to Missy Farrow

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was completely addicted when social media became a thing. Coming from the Gen X era where we started out with not even a cell phone, we were just happy to have an answering machine for our corded phones! I guess you could say they were the first ‘status updates’ of our time. As for first computers, I attended Meredith College, and we did have a computer lab, but we had to bring our own floppy disks, and half the time we lost all we had before we had a chance to hit the save button.

Then came social media and My Space. Tom Anderson was my first friend. Does anyone else remember that? He was the first genius of social for me. Then somehow, we all ended up on Facebook. Which was fine but it was always changing. Still does. But the game changer was when they added Facebook Business Pages! I started to become obsessed with all the ways these business pages could be used to get your business in front of more people and keep it there! My first client was my dad. He was a realtor and wanted a FB biz page and that is when Mfarrow Social Media began. Since then, we have helped so many people get their brand out in the WebSphere and communicate with customers and other brands and began growing communities online that would forever change how business and marketing are done!

What really makes my heart sing in this business though, is when I meet other women who are looking to get out of the corporate “rat race” and start their own businesses. They always say, “but I’m too old to start something new”, or “I don’t know if I could do or what I would do at this age”. Then I tell them my story of starting Mfarrow Social in my mid 40’s with my dad as my first client. lol I want to encourage women at any age to get out there and just start! Find your passion and go for it!

To this day, every time I create something and hit the ‘post’ button, you can actually hear me whisper, “Yay” as it makes its way to your feed. I’m forever addicted to helping others grow their brands on social media. I’ve defiantly found my passion!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Looking back, the biggest struggle was the classic ‘quit my job vs. build my dream’ dilemma. I wrestled with the idea of leaving the security of a steady paycheck to pursue my passion in social media. Ultimately, I decided to take a more gradual approach. I continued working my old job while nurturing my side business. This period was incredibly challenging. Juggling the demands of both left me feeling stretched thin and constantly questioning if I was making the right choices. There truly never seems to be a perfect time for such a leap. After a year of this intense balancing act, I finally made the decision to prioritize my entrepreneurial dream and resigned from my previous role. It was a daunting step, but I’m incredibly grateful I took it. And here we are, building something I’m truly passionate about.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At MFarrow Social Media, we partner with small and medium-sized businesses to take the weight of social media off their shoulders. We handle the entire process – from creating engaging content and scheduling posts to actively interacting with customers and managing their online reputation.

One area where we truly excel in is customer engagement. We go beyond just posting; we actively answer questions about products and services across various platforms (social media, email, DMs, Messenger), ensuring all customer inquiries are addressed promptly and professionally.

We’re also proud to offer unique services like drone video and photography. With our fully licensed pilot, we capture stunning aerial footage that can significantly enhance marketing materials for businesses like real estate agents, home builders, and landowners.

What sets MFarrow Social apart? We go beyond traditional social media management. I actively participate in client team meetings when I can and collaborate with their marketing teams to brainstorm fresh and innovative marketing ideas. (In fact, I often find myself jotting down brilliant ideas in my sleep – I swear I have a marketing dream journal!)

I’m also a huge advocate for leveraging AI, particularly ChatGPT, to streamline processes and enhance our services. I love sharing my knowledge and exploring the exciting possibilities of AI with our clients.

Essentially, I love helping businesses thrive in the digital age. We offer a personalized approach, a unique blend of services, and a passion for innovative solutions.

How do you think about luck?
I believe luck plays a role, but it’s often intertwined with our own actions. I have had some fortunate moments, like connecting with a key client at the right time. However, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the hard work, dedication, and perseverance that went into building MFarrow Social Media. Setbacks have certainly occurred, but I use them as learning opportunities. I’ve learned to adapt, pivot, and always strive for improvement. Ultimately, I believe success is a combination of hard work, resilience, and grabbing the opportunities that come your way.
