Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachael Hodge
Hi Rachael, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Interior design has always been a passion of mine. While many of my friends were choosing to do their hero projects on family members, I chose Candice Olson as my hero in third grade—much to the amusement (and perhaps mild disappointment) of my parents! (Sorry Mom and Dad!) That early fascination with design led me to pursue it academically, and I went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Meredith College.
After graduating, I spent six years working in luxury residential design, where I had the opportunity to work with some incredible clients and tackle a wide variety of complex, high-end projects. It was during this time that I began to notice a significant gap in the industry—while high-end design was thriving, interior design in general was often seen as a luxury, something only accessible to a select few.
This realization sparked the inspiration for what would become Pure Grace Design Co. I wanted to create a company that made great design accessible to everyone, regardless of their budget. My belief is that everyone deserves to live in a space that not only inspires them but also reflects their unique personality. Interior design isn’t just a luxury; it’s a necessity for well-being, productivity, and happiness. With this mission in mind, I founded Pure Grace Design Co., where we focus on offering thoughtful, stylish, and functional design solutions for a wide range of budgets.
Today, I’m proud to work with some amazing clients, all over the country. Working diligently to bring beautiful, personalized interiors to clients in every stage of life. Whether we’re transforming a small apartment or a large family home, our goal is to make exceptional design attainable for all.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like with any new business, the road has certainly had its challenges. When I first started Pure Grace Design Co., there were moments of doubt—wondering if what I envisioned was truly possible and whether there was enough demand for accessible design. But as I quickly learned, there is a real need for design services that are both thoughtful and attainable. This reassurance from clients helped me push through the initial uncertainty and gave me the confidence to keep moving forward.
One of the other challenges I faced early on was the scope of my services. Offering design solutions across the country presented logistical hurdles—how could I serve clients in different locations while maintaining the personal touch and quality that I wanted to offer? Technology became an invaluable tool in overcoming this obstacle. Video calls, virtual consultations, and online design tools allowed me to connect with clients in ways I never thought possible. This adaptability not only made it easier to serve a wider range of clients but also opened up opportunities I hadn’t anticipated.
While no journey is without its bumps, I’ve learned that every challenge is an opportunity to innovate and grow. With each setback, I’ve become more resourceful, and as a result, Pure Grace Design Co. is now in a stronger position than I ever imagined.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pure Grace Design Co.?
What sets Pure Grace Design Co, apart is our commitment to offering a range of tailored design services that cater to different needs. Whether it’s a simple home styling session or a full-scale renovation with project management, we’re here to bring your vision to life. We begin by taking the time to understand who you are, what you need, and how you want to feel in your space. From there, we collaborate with you every step of the way, ensuring that the final result not only meets but exceeds your expectations.
One thing that distinguishes us is our flexibility and personalized approach. We understand that design is deeply personal, which is why we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether working on a small apartment or a multi-room home, we strive to create spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also deeply functional and comfortable. Our designs are practical without sacrificing style.
What I’m most proud of is the way our brand has resonated with so many clients who believe that great design should be accessible to all. We’ve been able to help a diverse range of people transform their spaces, no matter their budget, and that’s something I truly value. Pure Grace Design Co. is more than just an interior design studio—it’s a partner in creating spaces that make you feel inspired, comfortable, and truly at home. We’re here to listen, to collaborate, and to turn your dream space into a reality.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happiest is seeing the transformation of a space that deeply resonates with the people who live in it. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about taking a blank canvas or an underutilized space and turning it into a place that feels like home—a space that not only looks beautiful but enhances the way people live and feel. When clients express their joy and satisfaction with the finished result, knowing that I’ve helped create a space that supports their well-being, that’s a true source of happiness for me.
Beyond work, I’m happiest when I’m spending time with my loved ones. When I’m not immersed in the creative world of design, you’ll likely find me soaking up the sun on a beach chair with a good book in hand or enjoying quality time with my husband, daughter and sweet little pup. We’re a football family through and through — come fall, you’ll catch me and my husband in the stands of Carter Finley Stadium supporting NC State, or on the sofa rooting for my beloved Buffalo Bills.
