Community Highlights: Meet Sydney Jasper of Jasper Psychotherapy & Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Jasper.

Hi Sydney, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Looking back, my path into this work feels deeply connected to my own childhood. I grew up in a high-achieving environment, balancing competitive athletics with academics and a schedule that always felt full. From the outside, it likely looked like I had everything together, but internally, I often felt under pressure to be perfect.

What made the difference for me was support. I experienced firsthand how powerful it can be when a child or teen has a strong network of caregivers, mentors, and professionals who truly see them. That understanding stayed with me and eventually guided me toward a career in mental health. I went on to become a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Certified Youth Mental Health Specialist, with a focus on working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families during critical periods of development.

As my clinical work evolved, I began to notice a recurring theme among the families I served. Many were deeply caring and driven, yet feeling overwhelmed, unsure, or disconnected as they navigated anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, behavioral concerns, or perfectionistic tendencies in their children.

Jasper Psychotherapy & Co. grew out of a desire to create the kind of space I once needed myself—one that is warm, collaborative, and rooted in the belief that “it takes a village.” Today, I feel grateful to do work that aligns so closely with my values: supporting young people and their families through growth, pressure, and change while creating a practice grounded in connection, belonging, and care.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When does anything ever go exactly as planned?! This journey was no different, though it has been deeply meaningful.

One of the most significant challenges was leaving a group practice to build something of my own. In that setting, I could focus fully on being a clinician. Stepping out on my own meant suddenly wearing two hats—therapist and business owner—without any formal business background to guide me.

Navigating that shift came with steep learning curves, from logistics and sustainability to thoughtful growth decisions. At times, it would have been easier to rush the process or say yes to everything simply to build momentum. Instead, I felt strongly about creating an intentional practice that reflected my values and approach to care.

What made this transition possible was community. I was fortunate to be supported by friends, family, and fellow clinicians who were generous with their guidance and encouragement. Their willingness to collaborate rather than compete reinforced my belief in doing this work thoughtfully and ethically.

Looking back, those challenges shaped Jasper Psychotherapy & Co. into what it is today—a practice built on clarity, integrity, and sustainable growth.

As you know, we’re big fans of Jasper Psychotherapy & Co.. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Jasper Psychotherapy & Co. is a child, adolescent, and young adult therapy practice rooted in the belief that meaningful growth happens through connection, collaboration, and care. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Certified Youth Mental Health Specialist, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside young people and their caregivers, with a clinical focus on anxiety, emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, perfectionism, and the pressures that often come with high achievement. Parent and caregiver support are central to this work, as lasting change rarely happens in isolation.

At the heart of the practice is a deep respect for children and families. I am profoundly passionate about working with young people, and that passion is grounded in a genuine love for children and a strong belief in the importance of family, however a family is defined. Jasper Psychotherapy & Co. honors and values all family systems, meeting families where they are and recognizing the strengths already present within them.

What sets the practice apart is its relational, team-based approach. When helpful, we collaborate closely with caregivers, schools, pediatricians, and other providers, guided by the philosophy that “it takes a village.” Therapy here is not just about addressing symptoms, but about understanding the broader context of a child’s life.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the intentionality behind the practice. Rather than growing quickly or broadly, Jasper Psychotherapy & Co. has developed with clarity—prioritizing ethical, high-quality care over volume. The goal has never been to be everything to everyone, but to be a trusted, consistent support for families navigating some of their most vulnerable moments.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Many of my favorite childhood memories are tied to athletics, which played a huge role in my life growing up. Sports were a place where I felt seen, challenged, and supported, and they shaped how I approach teamwork, growth, and resilience today.

One memory that stands out most is traveling with my club soccer team in high school to compete in the 2016 Paris Youth World Cup. We initially went simply for the experience and were encouraged to “just have fun,” not expecting to be serious contenders. Once we arrived, something shifted, and we realized we could truly compete with teams from all over the world.

We ended up winning the tournament and bringing home a massive trophy—but what mattered far more were the connections we built along the way. The shared moments with my teammates and coach, the sense of belonging, and the belief we had in one another have stayed with me long after the final whistle.

Even years later, that experience reminds me of the power of community and encouragement—values that continue to shape both who I am and the work I do today.
