Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamar Turner.
Hi Tamar, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I started this podcast back in 2019, fresh out of grad school and looking for a way to brand myself. I began to realize how difficult it was to secure a job in my field post-grad and shortly after the pandemic hit. I was unhappy working at Target and remembered a conversation that I had with one of my professors at Syracuse, Brent Axe. Prof. Axe ran his own sports podcast on ESPN, and one day after class, I stayed behind and picked his brain on everything – from equipment to distributing platforms, and he was beyond insightful.
Eventually, I stopped making excuses and applied myself and just took the leap of faith. The feedback I received was amazing and from there, I started conducting interviews and never looked back. The biggest reason I am where I am today, besides God, is just consistency. Simple as that, I went all in and didn’t think twice about it because I really am having fun and absolutely love what I do from start to finish.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth – ha! No, but there is always beauty in the struggle, and that’s what makes you appreciate the process that much more.
One of the biggest struggles is sometimes being a one-man band so everything falls on you from editing to promotion to even securing new interviews and coming up with creative content ideas. Having to manage all of that, on top of working a full-time job and having a personal life outside of both of those can become overwhelming.
Another struggle of mine is just being a perfectionist and sometimes that getting in the way of just putting the content out there. I have learned to give myself more grace and be patient with this process. Not everything is going to be 100% the way I want it, and that’s okay because to someone else, it could be conveyed as a masterpiece.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
You should know that the Down 2 Business Podcast is all about providing exposure to business owners, entrepreneurs, and creatives worldwide. There is not a story in the world that we feel doesn’t deserve to be highlighted, and we are here to do just that. We are mainly known for our virtual interviews, but have also done live events, appeared on other podcasts and even provide partnership opportunities for other brands/services.
The only true way to know what sets us apart from others is to join the show for an interview. It will be an experience unlike any other, and we can GUARANTEE that you will want to come back.
Brand-wise, we are proud to still be rocking and rolling for over four years, amassing 165+ episodes in the process. We are proud to see the connections that have been made across other episodes between brands and businesses that may not have come into contact otherwise.
All readers should know that we are open to interviewing EVERYONE; if you read our description and feel as though you are match – please do NOT hesitate to reach out! We will coordinate and make something happen one way or another.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
People can reach out to us via any social media site, email, or even by scheduling some time on our calendar which can be found on our website.
When it comes to support, we love feedback, so leaving a rating/review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify would be amazing for us!
