Kocholate Kouture Co. was born from a deeply personal journey. As an adult, I discovered I had developed asthma and allergies—something that completely changed how I looked at everyday products, especially the ones I used in my home. I realized that many common candles and fragrances were filled with ingredients that triggered my symptoms, and I knew I deserved better.

So I created it.

Creating clean, allergy-friendly products takes time, testing, and patience, especially when I refuse to cut corners on ingredients or quality.

Another challenge has been educating customers. Not everyone immediately understands the importance of clean-burning, wellness-focused candles, so I’ve had to learn how to clearly communicate why my products are different and why that matters for your health and home.

Visibility has also been a hurdle. Growing a brand, building trust, and standing out in a crowded candle market requires constant effort—showing up online, creating content, and staying motivated even when sales are slow or engagement is quiet.

Also, protect your why. There will be moments when sales are slow or doubt creeps in, but staying connected to your purpose will keep you grounded and motivated when things feel hard.

I wish I knew that consistency matters more than motivation. You won’t always feel inspired, and that’s okay—showing up anyway is what builds momentum.

I also wish I understood sooner that educating customers is part of the job. People won’t automatically know the value of clean, wellness-focused products, so learning how to confidently tell your story is just as important as creating the product itself.

Lastly, I wish I knew it was okay to grow slowly and intentionally. Not every win is loud or immediate. Small, steady steps still count, and every phase of the journey is preparing you for what’s next.
