Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Schlitt.
Hi Vanessa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I am from Brazil, I came to the US in 2004, and my first job was as a Portuguese instructor at Berlitz school. I was helping a few American executives that were traveling to Brazil for business. However, my heart has always been on the finance side, I started working in the mortgage industry in 2012, and I started with a small Branch in NY.
I remember Mr. Rodriguez hired me with no experience. Clients were 100% Latino. He hired me because I speak three languages and I was hired just as an assistant. A month after, I was (promoted) to help him with loans. I developed to love and help families get into their dream homes. I worked for Mr. Rodriguez for 5 years. He got really sick and his branch shut down. We were a group of 5 employees at the time.
It was tough I loved working for him. He was a kind man. After that I started working for big companies, The mission was the same. Help people to get into their homes. I have closed over 1000 Loans in my career. I love what I do, people usually get into the real estate business to make money.
I am not going to lie. That was my goal as well. Not anymore. Of course, I still got make money to pay the bills, but when you see a family working hard to get into their first home or second it’s a great feeling, I feel like accomplishing a mission. I feel happy to help make the American dream come true.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was not easy to get where I am. In this business, you will find it hard to work with people. Some aren’t so honest.
You have to hold your ground and do what you believe.
Go above and beyond and help people, do what you can. Get them ready. Prepare them for the American dream!
