Today we’d like to introduce you to Yolanda Finney.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am the Executive Director of Ministry support at Rebuild Fellowship in Durham, NC. After 18 years of working in the healthcare sector, I felt God’s leading in another direction… full-time service at my local church. Although I’ve led and served in various capacities, I did not imagine taking this leap of faith and moving in this current direction. In February 2020, exactly one month before the national shutdown I jumped into the unknown but had no clue how much would not be known in the days and months to come. During the last year, God has allowed my faith in Him to grow tremendously as I’ve learned new and excited ways. With each day a new opportunity is presented to share God’s love and grace in the Hayti community, either through partnership with local schools, community organizations, or individual families. My desire is to continue to be a source of light and hope in our local fellowship and community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Working in the middle of a global pandemic has presented continual struggles and challenges on how to keep our parishioners connected and engaged. Creativity and absolute grace have allowed us to remain one as a family of believers.
We’ve been impressed with Rebuild Fellowship, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Rebuild Fellowship a love movement embracing the joys of presenting God to our local community. We are a fellowship of people from diverse backgrounds, working together to see faith displayed in the lives of the citizens of Durham.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
We’ve tried to seek out organizations that match the vision and mission of our church. This has been key component of how we have developed partnerships in Durham.
